Chidwick Loses to Shakerchi

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Stephen Chidwick lost a big hand against Talal Shakerchi, where Shakerchi had seven-six on {5-}{J-}{8-}{4-}{9-}. Chidwick lost a bunch in that hand, but won some back the next hand.

With just 6,000 left, Chidwick opened to 600 from middle position. The player two seats down, in the cut off, made the call.

Chidwick bet out a 1,000 on {Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and his opponent made the call.

Both players checked the {A-Spades} on the turn, and Chidwick bet out 1,500 once the {9-Hearts} completed the board. Chidwick's opponent made the call, but he mucked as the Brit showed {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a turned top pair.

Vamplew On the Brink

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
David Vamplew
David Vamplew

The flop was {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and the player in the big blind led out for 2,200. David Vamplew made the call as did the player in late position, Harcharan Dogra. When the {4-Clubs} came on the turn it was checked to Vamplew who bet 5,500 and now just he and Dogra would make it to the river which was the {4-Hearts}.

Vamplew put out a bet of 11,000 leaving behind just over 6,000. Dogra was in a similar position but elected to make the call, mucking when Vamplew turned over his {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} nut flush. Vamplew had gone to the brink on the paired board but had managed to extract precious value to get up to double his starting stack.

Kihara Suffers Slight Setback

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Naoya Kihara
Naoya Kihara

PokerStars Team Online's Naoya Kihara was on about 60,000 and going fairly well but the Japanese player just took a hit to knock him back down a little.

On a {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} board, the small blind and Kihara both checked to the button who bet 1,500, the small blind shoved for around 7,000 and Kihara cold-called. The button quickly folded.

Small blind: {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Kihara: {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The {A-Clubs} turn and {Q-Spades} river changed nothing and the small blind doubled up to around 16,000.

Rettenmaier Reversing

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Marvin Rettenmaier can’t seem to get much going at the moment. He was involved in a three-way pot, sandwiched between two players and looking at a flop of {q-Spades}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Rettenmaier called a bet as did the third player and they went to a turn card {2-Clubs}. Rettenmaier called another bet of 1,700 this time and his neighbor came along.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and the aggressor now bet 4,000. Whatever Rettenmaier wanted to happen on the river, that sure wasn’t it as he mucked his cards and gave a shake of his head as the aggressor took down the pot.

Mizrachi Grinding in the Right Direction

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Michael Mizrachi and the big blind checked on {3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}, and the player in the hijack position bet 4,000. The first player folded, but Mizrachi made the call.

The {8-Diamonds} hit the turn and both players checked. Mizrachi bet out 11,000 on the {Q-Clubs} river, and got a call. "The Grinder" revealed his {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, his opponent mucked.

Boatman Bluffing?

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Denys Chufarin had tangled earlier with Barny Boatman in a five-bet pot and came off worse. They squared off again not too long ago when Boatman bet 4,000 on the river of a final board reading {5-Spades}{a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

Chufarin folded saying, “I had king high.” Boatman responded in kind telling him, “I had the king of diamonds. Maybe I was bluffing with the best hand?”
