No luck for last year's winner Tom Middleton, he has just been eliminated with king-queen against pocket nines.

"Just couldn't win a pot today," he shrugged.

Cardyn in Control

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

On the river of a {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}{J-Spades} board, Craig McCorkell paid of a bet of around 6,000 from Frenchman Nicolas Cardyn. The latter turned over {A-Spades}{3-Spades} for the turned nut flush.

"River saved me," said McCorkell, hinting that he had also turned a flush.

Katchalov Fighting Back

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Eugene Katchalov has had a tough day, but is starting to battle back having seen his stack shrink to less than 15,000 at one point. The Team PokerStars Pro check-raised Jonathan Little's 1,300 bet to 3,000 on a {3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop. Little briefly though about his options before electing to fold.

Makes No Sense To Shak

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

Dan Shak bet 6,000 into a pot of 12,000 on the turn of a board showing {4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Achille Voltolina, his only opponent sat to his left, moved all in for 24,000. Shak tried to make sense of it.

“Makes no sense at all.” Shak said and contemplated both his opponent and the board for a while. “No sense. How can you have a three in your hand? Set?” The confusion was complete and a frustrated Shak showed the {4-Diamonds} and mucked his hand.

Encouraged to “Show the bluff.” Voltolina turned over his {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. “I folded the winner.” Shak insisted claiming his other card was a {4-} before trying to question his opponent on whether he was worried about the straightening board on the turn. The language barrier proved to be an obstacle too far but Voltolina seemed to be saying he had over cards and was not worried at all.

“It made no sense.” Shak appealed to the table and finally got a, “No sense.” agreement from another player.

November Niner Martin Jacobson has managed to double up, he squeezed all in for 14,175 from the big blind after a raise in late position and a call in the small blind. The original raiser called and Kent Lundmark in the small blind folded.

Original raiser: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Jacobson: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The board came {3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Jacobson's sixes stayed good to move him back to his starting stack.

Stuer Busts Lecomte

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Quentin Lecomte has been knocked out, he called all in on the end of a {6-}{7-}{Q-}{Q-}{4-} board with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} but ran into Julian Stuer's {A-}{Q-}. As a result, Stuer is now up to 50,000 with around 30 minutes left until the end of the day.

Busquet Busted

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Well, you can't win them all.

Olivier Busquet, who won the Super High Roller last night, is one of a spate of late casualties at the end of the day. He was eliminated in a three-way all in with pocket queens against pocket kings and ace-king, the cowboys scooping the pot.

Also out is former champion Toby Lewis and EPT regular Mat Frankland.

Miller Picks Off Guyon In Huge Pot

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Ori Miller just skyrocketed his stack to 140,000 thanks to successfully picking off a big bluff run by Adrien Guyon.

When we arrived at the table, Miller had 6,875 in front of him and Guyon had 12,675 in front of him. Guyon was in position and action was back on Miller. Miller took some time, and then reraised to 19,200. Guyon called to take a flop.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}, and both players checked to see the {8-Hearts} land on the turn. Miller led for 7,700, but Guyon fought back a little harder with a raise to 17,000. Miller tanked, then called.

After the {5-Clubs} fell on the river, Miller checked. With around 20,000 left in his stack, maybe slightly less, Guyon moved all in. Miller went back into the tank with a look of pain stricken across his face. Eventually, he made the call.

Guyon had the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for just queen high. Miller saw that and turned up his {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of aces, and his hand baffled Guyon, who couldn't quite believe his bluff didn't work against Miller's ace-ten.

Needless to say, the table was quite intrigued by this hand, and especially by the two hands that were turned over at the showdown given how big the action was.
