Vladas Tamasauskas completed the small blind and Steve O'Dwyer raised to 4,000 from the big blind, which Tamasauskas called.
Both players checked on the 9♣2♦8♦ flop. The turn was the K♣ and Tamasauskas checked again. O'Dwyer bet 3,000 and Tamasauskas folded to give him the pot.
In the 869th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, sponsored by the free-to-play WSOP App, Chad Holloway hosts from down in The Bahamas at the 2024 World Series of Poker Paradise, while Kyna England is back at Level 9 Studio in Las Vegas. Mike Holtz is out with a broken ankle, so Nikki Limo was kind enough to once again fill in as a special co-host.
Together, they discuss happening at the WSOP Paradise, the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas, and the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague. That includes Phil Hellmuth making an appearance, the new stage at WSOP, and the Triton Million, which was won by Argentinean rapper Alejandro Lococo for $12 million.
Chad also had the honor of bringing the Women in Poker Hall of Fame trophy down with him to present to Kristen Foxen. In this episode, you can check out her acceptance speech, which PokerNews helped film. Speaking of the WiPHoF, Jeanne David was another inductee and she had a spot of luck drawing a Golden Passport into the ClubWPT Gold $5,000,000 Freeroll, which kicks off today!
At the EPT Prague, Thomas Santerne has already won two side event titles, while the 2022 WSOP Main Event champ, Espen Jorstad, took down the €25K Super High Roller Warm-Up for his first EPT title.
Oh, and we'll also let you know what Phil Ivey is up to as he's been seen double dipping at both the WSOP Paradise and WPT World Championship, including a planned holiday meet-up game (MUG) at the latter.
Enrico Camosci raised to 2,000 and Steve O'Dwyer called in the big blind.
The flop came 9♦10♥8♣ and O'Dwyer checked. Camosci continued with a bet of 2,500 and O'Dwyer called. Action slowed down as both players checked on the 3♣ turn, then checked to showdown on the 9♣ river.
O'Dwyer had K♠Q♣ for king-high and Camosci had 7♠7♦ for a pair of sevens to win the pot.
The next hand, Vladas Tamasauskas won a small pot from Camosci when he opened from the button and made a continuation bet on the flop.
Steve O'Dwyer raised to 2,000 from under the gun. Mihails Nikitins, in the big blind, three-bet to 16,000, a considerable portion of O'Dwyer's stack. O'Dwyer tanked before moving all in for around 6,000 more and Nikitins snap-called
"Are you trapping me?" asked O'Dwyer as the cards were tabled.
Steve O'Dwyer: 6♦6♣
Mihails Nikitins: A♠K♥
O'Dwyer was ahead in this flip until the A♣5♣K♦ flop reversed their fates. The 9♠ turn and 5♥ river changed nothing and O'Dwyer was sent to the rail.
O'Dwyer reentered the tournament from his phone before the next hand had been dealt.
It may have been a quiet start in terms of number of entries, but that didn't stop the few high rollers at the tables from ramping up the action early on as Steve O'Dwyer and Enrico Camosci became locked in a postflop battle that would ultimately lead to a double up.
O'Dwyer open-raised to 2,500 from the button and Camosci called in the big blind.
The flop came 5♥J♦8♣ and Camosci checked. O'Dwyer made a pot sized bet of 7,500 and Camosci responded with a check-raise to 16,000. O'Dwyer then reraised to 30,500 and Camosci called.
The turn was the 5♣ and Camosci led out with a small bet of 7,500, which O'Dwyer called.
On the 3♥ river, Camosci led out again for 10,000 and O'Dwyer shoved his stack in the middle. Camosci went into the tank, his head rested on his arms as he thought through the hand. He eventually made the call for 59,000 and the cards were revealed.
O'Dwyer had K♣2♣ for a missed flush draw that he'd turned into a bluff. Camosci turned over J♥8♦ for two pair, jacks and eights to win the pot and double up his stack, leaving O'Dwyer short.
Steve O'Dwyer limped in from the small blind and Vladas Tamasauskas, in the big blind, checked his option.
The 6♣A♥4♥ flop saw O'Dwyer check and then call a bet of 1,000 from Tamasauskas.
The 8♠ turn saw a repeat of the action, this time Tamasauskas sized up to 5,000.
The 8♥ river prompted a third check from O'Dwyer. Tamasauskas sized up with a bet of 15,000. O'Dwyer tanked for some time before making the call. Tamasauskas rolled over 10♥5♣ for ten-high, while O'Dwyer raked in this sizable pot with K♠5♦ for king-high.
