Day 2 of the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris €50k Super High Roller has concluded here at the Palais de Congres with just six players remaining. There were a total of 62 entries recorded in this event which generated a prize pool of €2,916,480, and eight players captured a piece of the pie.

Leading the way heading into Day 3 is 2023 EPT Paris Super High Roller Champion Chris Brewer who amassed a whopping stack of 4,850,000. Brewer has an incredible total of $20,755,225 in live poker earnings and looks to capture his fourth European Poker Tour Title as he continues to build his resume.

Trailing right on his tail is Thomas Santerne bagging a total of 4,660,000, who will be battling for his first EPT Championship.

The day began with 31 players returning to their seats after bagging chips on Day 1. However, with late registration still open until the start of the day, an additional 11 players joined the field, bringing the total number of entries up to 62. Although a fresh stack of chips was worth more than 40 big blinds, it didn't take long for the action to heat up and the players to start dropping.

A couple of the late entries that fell by the wayside in the early going included Johannes Straver, Mike Watson, and Kazuhiko Yotsushika when he shoved 56 big blinds into Stephen Chidwick’s straight on the river.

Day 1 chip leader Juan Pardo had a roller coaster of a day but ultimately fell short of the money by just a few spots when his pocket queens couldn’t hold against the ace-king of Brewer.

While Daniel Dvoress was coming hot off the €25,000 victory here in Paris, taking home €444,840, he was eventually eliminated two from the money when he ran into Brewer’s pocket kings.

With only a couple of hours left in play, Aleksejs Ponakovs was unfortunate to be the bubble boy after his pocket jacks couldn’t hold against the ace-king of Duco ten Haven, leaving him short. Not long after, he ran into the top set of Markkos Ladev with top pair and a straight draw, but the turn left him drawing dead as Ladev filled up.

Chidwick was the first to claim a cash-prize as his ace-jack was defeated by the king-queen of Ladev, taking home the minimum cash of €116,700 for his eighth place finish.

Next to bow out was Niklas Astedt, when his pocket tens couldn't win the flip against the ace-king of Brewer for a pot worth more than 2,000,000 chips. Astedt took home €145,800 for his efforts, adding to his $2,715,300 lifetime earnings.

Make sure to stay tuned in as the PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates en route to crowning an EPT Super High Roller champion.

Aleksejs Ponakovs opened 80,000 in the hijack, and Duco ten Haven three-bet to 525,000 next to act, leaving just 45,000 behind. The action quickly folded around to Ponakovs who announced all-in, and was called instantly.

Duco ten Haven: AK
Aleksejs Ponakovs: JJ

The A32 flop gave Ten Haven a pair of aces to take the lead, and the 5 turn missed both players but gave Ponakovs a chance to split the pot. The 9 however, was a brick and Ten Haven remained seated.

Dvoress Eliminated by Brewer's Full House

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Right after Daniel Dvoress found a double with a straight, he was right back in the action as Chris Brewer opened 60,000 on the button, and he three-bet 415,000 from the small blind. Brewer made the call.

Both players checked to the river on the 766QK board, where Dvoress checked once more before Brewer dropped a chip across the line. Dvoress only had 15,000 remaining and went into the tank. "This might take awhile," he said.

After using multiple time banks, he made the call. Brewer tabled KK for a full house, and Dvoress showed A5 as he left the table.

Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Chris Brewer raised 60,000 in the hijack and Juan Pardo three-bet to 220,000 from the small blind. Brewer announced a re-raise to 850,000, and Pardo snap-jammed for about 900,000. Brewer called and both hands were on their backs.

Chris Brewer: AK
Juan Pardo: QQ

It was a classic race but the K103 gave Brewer the best hand with a pair of kings. Pardo couldn't find one of the last queens in the deck to stay alive as the 7 fell on the turn, and the 3 on the river.

Astedt's Stack Takes Hit

Level 15 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Pieter Aerts
Pieter Aerts

Action was picked up on a flop of 298 where Niklas Astedt bet 150,000 from the small blind into a pot of around 530,000. Pieter Aerts made the call from under the gun.

Astedt slowed down on the 2 turn, electing to check. Aerts continued to barrel this time for 300,000. Astedt called once again before checking the 8 river. Here Aerts fired a bet of 1,000,000. "Lena900" went deep into the tank as to whether to call off most of his stack. He glanced over to Aerts who was statuesque.

He burned a few of his time banks and shuffled his chips in his hands while glancing over at Aerts. A few more time banks go by. Juan Pardo and Daniel Dvoress on the neighboring table glanced over to see what was going on. Astedt committed two more time banks while Aerts hadn't moved a muscle other than to blink.

Ultimately, Astedt mucked his hand, leaving Aerts with a sizeable pot.
