Gumz Wins Classic Flip Against Zarco to Set Up Stone Bubble

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Javier Zarco
Javier Zarco

Javier Zarco open-jammed for 73,000 from an early position and was called by Fabian Gumz in the big blind. As they had to wait for all other tables to conclude their action, the friendly banter between them started.

Gumz declared the upcoming showdown as "fake flip" while Zarco claimed "he made a bad call" towards the German. The banter went back and forth for more than five minutes during which Zarco explained that he stone-bubbled a tournament in Paris when he first visited the city and typically runs "really bad with this hand".

"And it will happen again," Gumz joked.

Zarco even took a video of the entire table for social media as the waiting game continued. Once it was their turn to reveal the cards, it was the most classic of coin flips indeed.

Javier Zarco: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Fabian Gumz: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop propelled Gumz into the lead and Zarco already vaulted out of his chair while tapping the felt. He found no help on the {6-Diamonds} turn and {7-Clubs} river to bust two spots away from the money.

"It is the revenge on Javi, we have a lot of history and he busted me in a lot of tournaments," Gumz concluded.
