Staahle Spikes a Straight to Bust Heath

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Kent Staahle raised it up in middle position and Ben Heath three-bet to 28,000 in the small blind. Staahle called and the dealer fanned the flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Heath thought for a moment and then ripped all in for 67,000. Staahle mulled it over as well before making the call.

Ben Heath: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Kent Staahle: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}

Heath flopped top pair but Staahle had a two-way straight draw plus an over card. The {6-Hearts} on the turn was a brick but the {q-Diamonds} on the river gave Staahle the nuts to eliminate Heath.

Van Hoof Almost Times Out; Hero-Calls At Wrong Time

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Alex Kulev
Alex Kulev

Alex Kulev was moved tables and the first hand he played saw him in the small blind with an open raise to 8,500. Jorryt van Hoof called in the big blind and the flop of {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} was checked by both players. On the {4-Hearts} turn, Kulev bet 24,500 and Van Hoof came along as they headed to the {10-Spades} on the river.

Kulev wasted little time before pushing all-in for 58,500 and Van Hoof didn't ask for any count yet. Instead, he burned through all time banks while staring at the board and his opponent and enjoyed a massage. At the very last second, he tossed in a call and the table was rather perplexed because they didn't know if it was in time or not.

"Let the floor decide," Van Hoof said and it was ruled as a call. Kulev tabled the {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a straight and Van Hoof only had {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a bluff catcher to see his stack plummet to two blinds and change.

Thanarattrakul Busts; O'Dwyer Joins

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Down to the last 12,500, Kannapong Thanarattrakul pushed all-in from an early position and he was called by Timothy Adams on the button.

Kannapong Thanarattrakul: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Timothy Adams: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

The dominated ace improved on the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop and Thanarattrakul already vaulted out of his chair. No help came on the {j-Hearts} turn and {2-Diamonds} river for Thanarattrakul to bust. At the same time, Steve O'Dwyer entered and drew a seat on the other table.

Greenwood Extends Lead Against Kisacikoglu

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Sam Greenwood raised to 5,500 from under the gun and folded to a three-bet by Orpen Kisacikoglu, who made it 16,500 on the button.

One hand later, both tangled again when Kisacikoglu raised it up from the cutoff and Greenwood came along in the big blind. On the {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop, Greenwood check-raised from 7,500 to 26,000 and Kisacikoglu called. The {4-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Greenwood bet another 52,000 for Kisacikoglu to call.

Both headed to the {5-Diamonds} river on which Greenwood fired a third bet worth 35,000. Kisacikoglu reluctantly called and mucked upon being shown the {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}.

Staahle Chips Up Through Kisacikoglu

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Kent Staahle raised it up from under the gun and was called by Orpen Kisacikoglu and Mike Watson in the blinds. The flop came {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and the action checked to Staahle who bet 5,500. Kisacikoglu called and Watson got out of the way.

The turn was the {k-Clubs} and Kisacikoglu check-called another bet of 10,000 from Staahle. The {k-Hearts} paired the board on the river and both players tapped the table. Kisacikoglu showed {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for missed draws while Staahle held {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for two pair.

Heath, Kulev and Watson Join the Field

Level 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The winner and the runner-up of yesterday's €25,000 Single-Day High Roller, Ben Heath and Alex Kulev, appeared in the break and took a seat just before the cards went back in the air. Moments later, Mike Watson also jumped in and that brought the field up to 21 entries, just two short of the attendance the previous day.

The late registration remains open for another three levels and the following dinner break while some of the attention of the high-stakes specialists is also on the TV screen, which broadcasts the quarter final between Morocco and Portugal.

Kisacikoglu Essentially Doubles Through Thanarattrakul

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

Sam Greenwood opened to 6,000 on the button and was called by Kannapong Thanarattrakul in the small blind. Orpen Kisacikoglu then raised to 30,000 and Greenwood folded while Thanarattrakul called after checking the stack of his table neighbour carefully.

The {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop was checked by Thanarattrakul and he then called a small bet of just 7,000 by Kisacikoglu. Following the {3-Spades} turn, Thanarattrakul check-called another 31,000 and the {7-Spades} river paired the board.

Thanarattrakul now bet 25,000 only for Kisacikoglu to raise to 63,500 with two T-500 chips behind. That sent his opponent deep into the tank and Thanarattrakul eventually called. Kisacikoglu rolled over the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for queens full and that left Thanarattrakul with fumes on the last hand before the break.

Seiji Loses It All in Two Hands

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Rodrigo Seiji
Rodrigo Seiji

Picking up the action on the {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop with 33,000 in the middle, Pascal Lefrancois and Rodrigo Seiji both invested 10,000 each with the former check-calling as the initial preflop aggressor. On the {2-Spades} turn, Lefrancois check-called another 14,000 and checked the {9-Clubs} on the river.

Seiji now checked back and mucked when Lefrancois tabled the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a set.

That hand reduced the stack of the Brazilian to around 50,000 and he three-bet jammed into a raise to 5,500 by Adrian Mateos the very next hand. Once it folded back to Mateos, he made the call and they were flipping.

Rodrigo Seiji: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Adrian Mateos: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board left Seiji drawing dead on the turn and his first bullet ended in a rather swift manner.
