Double Knockout Boosts Demasi

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Simone Demasi
Simone Demasi

As relayed to PokerNews, Majid Nadeem open-shoved a stack of around 95,000 and Masaaki Maruyama called from a few seats over. Simone Demasi then three-bet jammed with both players covered and Maruyama to put himself at risk.

Majid Nadeem: {7-}{7-}
Masaaki Maruyama: {a-}{q-}
Simone Demasi: {k-}{k-}

Demasi didn't have to sweat much as the flop landed {j-}{j-}{k-} to give him a full house and the runout of {j-}{q-} changed nothing to score him the double knockout.

Schmitz Raises the River

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Michael Schmitz raised on the button to 11,000 and found a call from Simone Demasi in the small blind.

Demasi check-called a continuation bet of 14,000 after the {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, while both players checked the {5-Spades} turn. Demasi then led out for 10,000 on the {4-Spades} river, and Schmitz responded with a quick raise to 30,000. Demasi mucked his hand, and Schmitz took down the pot.

Le Ousted by Kamphues

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Tan Le
Tan Le

With roughly 50,000 in the pot on a {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{j-Spades} board, Lars Kamphues bet 5,000 in early position, and Tan Le had only 3,000 left in middle position.

With one elimination away from a pay jump, Le used a few of his five time-banks in hopes of there being an elimination at another table, although some at the table weren't pleased with the tactic. After a tournament clock showed an elimination occurred elsewhere, Le put in the last of his chips.

Tan Le: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Lar Kamphues: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Le needed a queen to survive with Broadway, but the {a-Diamonds} completed the board and Kamphues' set eliminated Le, although he did receive the pay jump.

Finck Takes From Karam

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Ramzi Karam and Jerome Finck were heads up to the {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, with Karam check-calling 7,000 from the big blind.

Both players checked the {a-Spades} turn, while Karam led out for 23,000 on the {3-Hearts} river. Finck was quick to make the call, and Karam turned over {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a pair of fours. Finck tabled {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for top pair and raked in the chips.

Muradov Eliminated with Kicker Issues

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Harry Lodge
Harry Lodge

Harry Lodge and Shakhabiddin Muradov were heads up on a board which read {4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

Lodge bet out for 21,000, Muradov called and the turn fell the {6-Spades}.

Lodge continued his aggression betting 55,000 on the turn but Muradov stuck around making the call again.

On the {6-Hearts} river Lodge unloaded the clip, firing the third barrel and announcing all in, putting Muradov at risk for his tournament life.

Muradov went deep into the tank, using four of his time bank chips before making the call with {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} but had kicker issues as Lodge rolled over {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a better two pair.

Pilkington Pillages Paiva

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jessica Pilkington raised from the hijack and Tomas Paiva defended out of the big blind.

The flop landed {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Paiva moved all in with a short stack. Pilkington snap-called with a larger stack.

Tomas Paiva: {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Jessica Pilkington: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Paiva had flopped a pair but needed help to get ahead of Pilkington's overpair. He didn't get it as the board finished out {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} to mark his elimination early in the day.

Beresford Scores Early Knockout

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Conor Beresford
Conor Beresford

Marton Czuczor opened to 11,000 from middle position and Alexis Laroche flatted the button. Conor Beresford raised to 38,000 in the small blind and action folded back to Laroche who moved all in for roughly 120,000. Beresford called.

Alexis Laroche: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Conor Beresford: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} flop put Beresford ahead, although Laroche had a flush draw. The {j-Hearts} turn changed nothing, however, and neither did the {10-Hearts} river, and Laroche was eliminated while Beresford added early in the day.

Heung Wins Early Battle

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Nicolas Vayssieres raised from early position to 11,000 and was called by Nils Pudel in the small blind and Wayne Heung in the big blind.

Pudel and Heung checked the {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, and both called when Vayssieres continued for 12,000. Pudel then led out for 25,000 on the {10-Spades} turn, producing a call from Heung and a fold from Vayssieres.

Pudel used a time card after the {5-Spades} river before announcing a bet of 93,000. Heung quickly tossed in the call, turning over {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Pudel revealed {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} but was second best, as Heung took down an early pot.
