Carteau Rises To the Top; 54 Remain

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Within quick succession, several players were eliminated including Sergio Castelluccio, Eder Takashi Murata, Parham Ahoor and Masato Yokosawa. Also on the rail is Giovanni Rosadoni, who fell victim to the hot run of Baptiste Carteau.

The latter raised with {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and called the shove of Rosadoni, who only held {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The board came {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Rosadoni was done for the night.

Julien Martini sent Ahoor to the rail when the latter defended out of the big blind and flopped trips aces with {a-}{6-} only for Martini to look him up on a {a-}{a-}{2-}{8-} turn. with {a-}{q-} for the superior kicker. A blank river sent Ahoor out.

Then, Masato Yokosawa busted to Carteau, who jumped into the chip lead and set up the bubble for Day 1a.
