Hand for Hand

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With 298 players remaining for 296 places in the money, the tournament staff stopped the clock and announced a hand-for-hand format upon the completion of the current hand at each table.

Røed Eliminated Two Before the Money

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Kent Roed
Kent Roed

Kent Røed sat in middle position and had bet 34,000 on the {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts} board. Fabien Motte pushed from the hijack for 187,000 and he was called by Røed who was at risk as he had less than Motte.

They waited for the tv-crew and the tournament direction to arrive and they flipped open their cards.

Kent Røed: {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Fabien Motte: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}

The board ran out with the {4-Diamonds} on the river and Røed wasn't able to chop it up and he was eliminated just two spots before the money.

Carlos Branco Bubbles the 2019 EPT Barcelona Main Event

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Bubble Carlos Branco
Bubble Carlos Branco

There was one further all in and call and as soon as the previous showdown was completed, the tv crew and a lot of players rushed into the corner of the Salon Gaudi to witness the possible money bubble.

Carlos Branco had raised to 14,000 from the cutoff and Alexis Urli three-bet to 36,000 in the big blind. Branco pushed for 191,000 and Urli called with two times the stack.

Carlos Branco: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Alexis Urli: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop provided no help and the {j-Clubs} turn left Branco drawing dead, which made the {8-Spades} river a formality. Branco has become the bubble boy and all remaining 296 players are in the money.

A Chip and a Chair Come Back for Sey

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Hassan Sey
Hassan Sey

According to the table, Hassan Sey thought he had lost his entire stack earlier due to an all-in and call hand and was making his way to the exit when the table realized he still had one 500-chip left and called him back.

With only a quarter of an ante, Sey managed to find many double-ups and even reach the money with 82,000 chips. "A chip and a chair" has never been so true for the Finnish player.

Koplimaa Takes From Navickas

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

On a flop reading {q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and with around 22,000 in the middle, Markku Koplimaa checked from the big blind and Audrius Navickas bet 7,000 under the gun. Koplimaa check-called.

The turn came the {10-Diamonds} and Koplimaa check-called another bet of 20,000 from Navickas. The {j-Spades} river completed the board and was checked around. Navickas showed {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a pair of jacks and Koplimaa revealed {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} to rake in the pot with a pair of queens.

Ivanov Eliminated by Katzenberger

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Within quick succession, Lyudmil Ivanov, Theodore McQuilkin and Govert Metaal have been eliminated in the money.

Ivanov was the first to fall from the trio when his {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} ended up second-best to the {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} of Monte-Carlo finalist Viktor Katzenberger on a {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{k-Hearts}{7-Clubs} run out.

Further eliminations are expected to come at a rapid pace.

Lipauka Doubles; Schaaf Busts

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The first chip millionaire in the 2019 EPT Barcelona Main Event has been crowned as Andres Korn crossed that elusive figure by sending a short-stacked Tobias Schaaf to the rail.

Tobias Schaaf: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Andres Korn: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

The board came {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and the pocket pair held up.

Vadzim Lipauka was also all in and at risk holding the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Arsenii Karmatckii called with {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. On a {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board, ace-queen high was enough to let Lipauka double.
