Zhang Doubles Montury and Colautti

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jean Montury
Jean Montury

Chi Zhang lost two all-ins in a row. First, he put Jean Montury to the test by putting him all in. The former EPT Malta Champion made the call and was in great shape to double up.

Chi Zhang: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Jean Montury: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Montury even improved to a set on the {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Spades} flop and it was all over with the {3-Clubs} on the turn. The {8-Spades} river didn't matter anymore and Montury doubled up.

"Malta power!", said Montury as he pointed to the symbol of Malta tattooed on his arm. Montury won here two seasons ago and is still in contention to repeat that achievement.

Zhang lost some more a couple of hands later. This time he shoved all in on the {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop and got called by Daniele Colautti. The Italian was all in for 46,000 and had {10-Spades}{8-Clubs} for top pair.

Zhang tabled {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and needed help but the {4-Diamonds} turn and {6-Diamonds} river didn't provide any.

Trip Queens Sends D'Amico Packing

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Marco D'Amico is no longer in contention at the PokerStars.com EPT Malta. That is the reality after he just moments ago lost a flip to Usman Siddique.

From first position Siddique opened to 12,000 before D'Amico put his stack of 106,000 in the middle. Button and blinds quickly folded, and after a few deliberations Siddique slid in the chips to call.

D'Amico opened {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, and though they were in decent shape against Siddiques {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} the flop was very bad news for the Italian. The Dealer fanned {Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, and when {6-Diamonds} and {K-Clubs} completed the board, it was arrivederci D'Amico.

The table was broken after the hand, and Siddique would rack up his 340,000 before being moved to another seat.

Diaz Takes on Valle; Then Busts Letort

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We had some French-on-French-action and even some Guillaume-on-Guillaume-situation.

Guillaume Valle and Guillaume Diaz got involved in a big hand. It Diaz who fired out a 23,000-bet on the turn when the board read {6-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

He got called and then checked on when the {4-Clubs} hit the river. Valle made a bet of 20,000 chips and it was back to the other Guillaume. Diaz, the start-of-the-day chip leader, made it 117,000 and Valle called.

Diaz tabled {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the rivered straight and raked in a huge pot.

A couple of hands later, he scored about 60,000 more chips when he busted Thibault Letort. His fellow countryman was all in with {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Diaz called with {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Letort couldn't connect with the {K-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} board and was on his way to the pay out desk.

DiFelice Busts on the Feature Table

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Darya Hulyk raised from under the gun and Andre DiFelice got the remainder of his short stack in out of the big blind, Hulyk called over on the feature table.

Andre DiFelice: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Darya Hulyk: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board of {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts} provided no help for the Canadian and he has been eliminated.

Kees van Brugge
Kees van Brugge

Kees van Brugge faced the open-raise by Dong Zhao and shoved from the small blind in order to pick up a call by Zhao.

Kees van Brugge: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Dong Zhao: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop left the Dutchman in dire shape, but he picked up some outs with the {10-Clubs} on the turn. The {3-Clubs} on the river was none of them and van Brugge joined the rail. In 45 minutes after the bubble had burst, more than 20 players were eliminated.

Parmar Busts Bleiker

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The German-speaking player base has just taken a big hit, as Felix Bleiker, Felix Schlott and Dietrich Fast were all eliminated.

Taran Parmar raised from the button and Bleiker shoved his short stack of around 30,000 from one seat over, Parmar called.

Felix Bleiker: {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Taran Parmar: {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Hwang Busts Price; Five-bets Macnamara

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Yung Hwang
Yung Hwang

It was a good orbit for Yung Hwang. First, he got it all in with {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} against the {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} from Oliver Price.

It was for around 45,000 chips each and it was Price who was at risk. He was in bad shape against Hwang's kings and couldn't improve on the {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Tomas Macnamara opened a few hands later. From early position, he made it 11,000 to go and it was folded to Hwang on the button. He popped it up to 30,000 and it was back to Macnamara.

He went into the tank and eventually threw in a four-bet to 68,000. But the hand was far from over. Hwang made a five-bet to 155,000 with only 40,000 more behind.

Again, Macnamara needed some time but now he opted to fold.
