Kornuth vs. Frey

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Daniel Dvoress raised to 2,800 from the button, and Kyle Frey defended his big blind with both players checking down the {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} board all the way through. Frey showed the {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and the pair of sevens was good enough to scoop the pot.

One hand later, Chance Kornuth raised to 3,000, and Frey three-bet to 11,000 out of the small blind. Kornuth called, and they headed to the flop of {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Frey continued for 14,500 and Kornuth tossed in the chips to make the call before Frey's next bet was worth 27,500 after the {5-Spades} fell on the turn. Kornuth asked the dealer to confirm the amount, then made the call.

The {6-Spades} hit on the river and Frey checked, as did Kornuth. Frey's {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a busted straight draw ended up second best to the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} of Kornuth, and the latter increased his stack.
