Durnegger Shoves, Mortensen Builds Stack

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Morten Mortensen check-called two bets on a board of {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and was good with the {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, as Yordan Mihaylov Petrov only had third pair and tried to steal the pot.

The next hand, Uri Reichenstein raised to 75,000 and Petrov called on the button, as did Markus Durnegger in the big blind. On the {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop, Durnegger checked and Reichstein forced two folds by betting 140,000.

Durnegger three-bet all in for 625,000 the next hand out of the small blind and initial raiser Simon Lofberg folded.

The End of Berent

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Norbert Berent
Norbert Berent

Norbert Berent has enjoyed a great rail of support during this EPT Main Event, but it hasn't helped him a bit in the end. He is very unlucky to be walking out of the door.

Hand 1: At The Double
It all started so well for the Polish player, who has already cashed twice since being here in Barcelona. He got all of chips into the middle with {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and toppled {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} when the board came {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Hearts} . That put him up to 1.1m, but in the next crucial hand he was to lose a lot of it.

Hand 2: Disaster on the Turn
Norbert's slide down bust-out mountain begun in the second hand. He was all-in pre-flop, calling it off against Konstantin Puchkov's all-in move for 525,000 with {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} . Berent was in great shape, flipping over {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and hoping the board paid him off and busted another opponent.

The flop of {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds} was safe enough, but the turn of {9-Clubs} sent Berent out of his chair in disgust. The river {5-Spades} helped not a bit.

Hand 3: Flipping Unreal

After Puchkov called an opening bet from another player of 65,000, Berent got his 213,000 stack into the middle with {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and was called only by Puchkov (again). This time, it was a flip, as Puchkov had been trapping with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} . The first card out was an ace on the board of {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds} with a couple of those ironic nines looking at him again. It's to his credit that Berent, a powerful personality at the table, shook everyone's hand and walked away in quiet anguish. He looked ready to run through the wall itself on the way out.

Anthony Chimkovitch and Spyridon Koukouris Clash Twice

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Spyridon Koukouris made it 70,000 to go, Anthony Chimkovitch three-bet to 180,000 from the button. Stephen Malone four-bet and Koukouris then announced all in for around 1.5 million. Chimkovitch called all in for around 900,000 and Malone got out of the way.

Koukouris had the {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Chimkovitch a big flip with the {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}, a king on the flop gave the Belgian the double.

Soon after, Koukouris open-shoved the small blind for 575,000 with the {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Chimkovitch called with {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Spades} and Koukouris doubled back.

Markus Durnegger Busts to Uri Reichenstein

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

After winning a hand against Simon Lofberg, Markus Durnegger was back up to just under one million in chips and in the small blind. He raised to 90,000 and Uri Reichenstein called in the big blind.

On the {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop, Durnegger continued for 165,000 and Reichenstein called.

After the {6-Diamonds} turn, Durnegger checked and Reichenstein bet 185,000, Durnegger called. The {Q-Diamonds} river completed the board and Durnegger checked again. Reichenstein pushed all in and Durnegger eventually called off for his last 500,000 with the {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Reichenstein was behind until the last community card, but got there with the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} and sent the Austrian to the rail.

Baron Leading a Charmed Life

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Alexandru Baron
Alexandru Baron

Alexandru Baron 3-bet from the hijack to 250,000 after Anthony Chimkovitch had made it 80,000 to play. Chimkovitch wasn't scared by the bet and made it 480,000 to see a flop. Baron shoved all-in for 825,000 and Chimkovitch made the quickest call in history.

Chimkovitch: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Baron: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The flop of {4-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades} led to gasps around the watching rail and a smile from Baron. The turn of {Q-Diamonds} opened up outs for the re-suckout for Chimkovitch, but the {6-Hearts} river saw Baron double-through Chimkovitch in the final had before the break. Chimkovitch dwindles right down to 603,000 while Baron, who was so nearly out of the door has three times his opponent's stack.

Didier Mazairac Busted by Puchkov

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Konstantin Puchkov
Konstantin Puchkov

Yet another player has fallen foul to Konstantin Puchkov, and this time it is Mazairac. Mazairac was all in and at risk for his tournament life for 375,000 with 4d4c and was called by Konstantin Puchkov, pictured, who held {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

The board of {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Spades}{K-Spades}{K-Clubs} sent Mazairac home and gives yet more chips to Puchkov, who over the last hour or so doesn't seem to be able to lose a hand. He's up to a little over 2 million chips.

Forman Can't Find a Spade

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Miroslav Forman
Miroslav Forman

Miroslav Forman was all in with {J-Spades}{10-Spades} and needed a lot of help to survive, up against Olli Autio's {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} . Dominated he may have been, but the flop of {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} gave him a flush draw.

Could Forman find a spade to dig himself out of the hole he was in? Well... no. The turn of {3-Clubs} was as much use as an inflatable dartboard to his chances, and the {7-Clubs} river saw him up and shaking hands politely. He's out of here, and Autio (pictured) now has well over 2 million.

Kaverman Crushed by Cortellazzi

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Byron Kaverman
Byron Kaverman

Byron Kaverman's EPT Main Event has come to an end. He opened under the gun, and saw Andrea Cortellazzi make it 285,000. Kaverman moved all in for 885,000 and Cortelazzi had no problem calling it off. Kaverman held {A-Spades}{6-Spades} and was way behind Cortellazzi's {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} .

The board of {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{A-Hearts} saw Kaverman busted and sees Cortellazzi rocket up to 2.7 million chips. What a position for the young Italian player, with just thirty players left in the 2016 PokerStars.es EPT Barcelona Main Event and the chance to bring his biggest cash from just over $40,000 to a possible €1.122million!
