Kitai Has Some Major Kicker Issues

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

A short-stacked Davidi Kitai shoved all in for 321,000 from early position and Kenneth Smaron called from the button. The blinds both folded and Kitai discovered the bad news.

Kitai: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Smaron: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Kitai had some major kicker issues, and things only got worse when the {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop delivered Smaron a flush draw. Amazingly, the {10-Clubs} spiked on the turn to give Kitai the lead, though Smaron was drawing very much alive to the river. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {8-Spades}. Smaron missed and sent a quarter of his stack across the table.

William Foxen Eliminated in 14th Place (€40,640)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
William Foxen - 14th Place
William Foxen - 14th Place

Action folded to William Foxen on the button and he raised to 66,000. Iliodoros Kamatakis, who was in the small blind, then three-bet to 200,000, and Rocco Palumbo folded from the big. Foxen took his time before four-betting all in for approximately 800,000, and Kamatakis double checked his cards before making the call.

Kamatakis: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Foxen: {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Foxen was understandably disappointed upon discovering he was dominated, and he watched helplessly as the board ran out an unhelpful {10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. Foxen will take home €40,640 for his 14th-place finish.

Short-Stacked Kitai Shoves

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Davidi Kitai open-shoved for 10 big blinds from the hijack seat and won the blinds and antes. The Belgian hasn't been able to get out of first gear during the opening exchanges, but if he does manage to double he is going to give his opponents a major headache.

River Bet Wins Pot For Selbst

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst opened from the button and Kevin MacPhee defended his small blind with a call. MacPhee check-called a 60,000 bet on the {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, before both players checked the {J-Hearts} turn. MacPhee's check on the {10-Clubs} river left the door open for Selbst to bet, and she did just that, making it 60,000. MacPhee folded.

Mikkel Lokkegaard Hansen Eliminated in 15th Place (€40,640)

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Mikkel Lokkegaard Hansen - 15th Place
Mikkel Lokkegaard Hansen - 15th Place

Not long after Mikkel Lokkegaard Hansen doubled through Daniel Cates, the latter returned the favor.

It happened when Cates shoved for 417,000 from the button and Hansen called from the small blind.

Cates: {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Hansen: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Hansen woke up with another big hand, but Cates managed to get lucky on the {q-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Spades} flop. Neither the {7-Hearts} turn nor {10-Diamonds} river helped Hansen, and he was left with just 106,000 after the hand.

In the very next hand, Hansen shoved the button for 102,000 and Iliodoros Kamatakis called from the big blind.

Hansen: {10-Spades}{5-Spades}
Kamatakis: {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The {10-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop gave Hansen a pair of tens, but Kamatakis picked up an open-ended straight draw, which came in after the dealer burned and turned the {J-Hearts}. The meaningless {K-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Hansen made his way to the payout desk in 15th place to collect €40,640.

Kamatakis Baffles Greenwood

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

The action folded to Greece's Iliodoros Kamatakis in the hijack and he raised to 52,000, a bet that Luc Greenwood called in the big blind.

Greenwood checked and then called an 82,000 continuation bet on the {8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop. Greenwood check-called again on the {7-Spades} turn, this time a 142,000 chip bet. The {Q-Clubs} river saw Greenwood check for a third time.

"How many chips have you got?" asked Kamatakis

"About 800,000," came the reply.

A few seconds later and Kamatakis moved all-in, covering Greenwood easily.

Greenwood went into the tank for to minutes before saying, "Why so big? So small on every street and then all-in."

Eventually, Greenwood settled on a fold, leaving Kamatakis to add to his already substantial stack. The other players were trying to put Greenwood on a hand, one suggested he held {5-}{4-} for a straight, whcih Greenwood laughed off.

"I had better than a king," revealed Greenwood.

Hansen Wakes Up With the Goods

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Action folded to Daniel Cates in the small blind and he simply moved all in to put the pressure on a short-stacked Mikkel Lokkegaard Hansen in the big. Hansen looked down at his cards and snap-called off for 332,000 total.

Hansen: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Cates: {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Hansen woke up with the goods at just the right time, but Cates picked up a sweat when the {6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop delivered him a pair. Fortunately for Hansen, neither the {2-Spades} turn nor {10-Spades} river proved harmful and he shipped the double.

Bryan Paris Eliminated in 16th Place (€36,060)

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Bryan Paris
Bryan Paris

Bryan Paris' high roller is over after a clash with Kenneth Smaron didn't go to plan.

Paris pushed all-in from early position for around 370,000 and Smaron called from the big bling. "Nice hand," said Paris as he saw that his {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} was in poor shape against Smaron's {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

The board ran {4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts} to bust Paris, and propel Smaron to 1,260,000, a fantastic start for the American who sat down with 415,000 chips at the start of Day 3.

Foxen Approaching One Million

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

From the button, William Foxen raised to 55,000 and Rocco Palumbo of Italy called in the big blind. A scary {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{A-Hearts} flop saw Palumbo check, Foxen bet 43,000 and Palumbo call.

Both players then checked the {9-Clubs} turn and the {4-Hearts} turn before Palumbo turned over {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and lost to the {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades} of Foxen thanks to the latter's king playing.
