In the next hand after being crippled, Ole Schemion called all in from the small blind for his last 23,000 total and was at risk against Erik Seidel, who was in the big blind.
Schemion:
Seidel:
The flop gave Seidel the lead, and he held on to it after the blanked on the turn followed by the river.
Dario Sammartino opened the button to 55,000, and Ole Schemion three-bet to 185,000 from the big blind. Sammartino called in position.
The flop came , and Schemion bet 180,000. Sammartino called, and the landed on the turn. Schemion bet 382,000, and again Sammartino called.
Things got really interesting after the hit the river. After about half a minute of tanking, Schemion moved all in for 1,121,000. Instantly, Sammartino let out a big sigh, moving his hands to his face like he couldn't believe what just happened. It did happen, Schemion had jammed, and Sammartino clearly wasn't happy about it.
"Pfff!' Sammartino sighed again. His pained face became visible after he moved his hands from his face to his hair and then up into the air. Sammartino didn't like what he was seeing, and made no secret about it.
Another couple minutes later, Sammartino still hadn't made up his mind. Schemion, still with a blank stare and arms folded, didn't flinch when Sammartino waved his hand in front of him to try to get a reaction.
"Ole, do you know what I have?" Sammartino asked to Schemion after waving his hand in front of his face to garner a reaction. "Second nuts, I mean third nuts?" he corrected himself to. The third nuts would be pocket jacks, but was it possible the Italian was tanking for this long with the second-best full house?
After another couple of moments, Schemion asked for the clock. The floor informed Sammartino he had one minute to act on his hand. With about 20 seconds left in the countdown, Sammartino grabbed a stack of T25,000 chips and moved them over the line to indicate a call for his tournament life.
Schemion confidently tabled the , just about 100% sure he was going to win the biggest pot of the tournament and continue as a big chip leader. To everyone's surprise, though, the aces weren't good. Sammartino showed the , indeed having the third nuts, and now it was Schemion doing the sighing. The German's face was that of disbelief, partly because he was surprised by such a long tank by Sammartino and partly because after all the tanking he thought his hand was good.
After all the counting was done, Schemion was left with 26,000. Sammartino took the chip lead and in a very, very big way.
Max Altergott raised to 50,000 under the gun only to have Fedor Holz three-bet to 129,000 from the cutoff. Pratyush Buddiga then four-bet jammed for 480,000 from the small blind, and Altergott moved all in over the top.
"Makes it easy," Holz said before folding.
Altergott:
Buddiga:
It was another race situation, but Buddiga needed to improve to stay alive. The flop didn't do much for him other than give him a running flush possibility, which was snatched away when the appeared on the turn. Buddiga needed either an ace or king on the river to extend his tournament life, but it was not meant to be as the blanked.
Reigning World Series of Poker Player of the Year and Team PokerStars Pro George Dazner was playing in his first-ever Super High Roller, but his adventure just came to an end in 14th place.
It happened when Igor Kurganov opened with a standard raise and Danzer three-bet jammed from the cutoff for 239,000 total. Action folded back to Kurganov, and he wasted little time in making the call.
Kurganov:
Danzer:
It was a classic flip, and all Danzer had to do was hold to score the double. He held strong on the , but then the dealer crushed his dreams by delivering the on the turn. Another lady, the , peeled off on the river to give Kurganov queens full, and that put an end to Danzer's run.
Thomas Muehloecker opened to 57,000 from middle position and Italian high stakes player Dario Sammartino three-bet to 150,000 from the cutoff. Small blind Ole Schemion tanked for some time before folding, and action was on Mikita Badziakouski.
Badziakouski tanked for some bit as well, before announcing all in for 156,000. Muehloecker instantly folded, Sammartino called.
Mikita Badziakouski:
Dario Sammartino:
The board ran out , giving Badziakouski a straight draw on the turn, but in the end no one hit and Sammartino busted his opponent from Belarus.
George Danzer opened for 55,000 under the gun and only Igor Kurganov, who was on the button, looked him up. Kurganov proceeded to call bets of 85,000 and 155,000 on the flop and turn respectively, and then Danzer slowed down with a check on the river. Kurganov announced that he was all in, and Danzer hit the tank.
More than five minutes ticked by before a clock was called, and Danzer took the full minute before his hand was killed. Kurganov took a look back at his cards and then sent them to the muck unseen.
The short-stacked Leonid Markin was all in with the against the of Ole Schemion. The board ran out , and Schemion added even more chips to his stack to push to 2.22 million. Markin was eliminated.
From the button, Ole Schemion raised to 50,000. Mikita Badziakouski made the call from the big blind, and the flop came out . Badziakouski checked, Schemion bet 66,000, and Badziakouski called.
The turn was the , and this time Badziakouski led with a bet of 55,000. Schemion made the call, and the river produced the . Badziakouski took his time, then fired 370,000, leaving himself with 189,000 behind. Schemion raised all in, and Badziakouski quickly folded.
