Jorgensen Finds a Spot

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

With a raise and two calls in front of him PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen found a great spot to move all his chips in from the button. He was dead right and he met no resistance and took down the pot pre-flop.

The Pros Go at It

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On a final board reading {2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} it was Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel versus PokerStars Team Online Isaac Haxton. Duhamel checked and Haxton went into the tank. A couple of minutes passed as he sized up his options but in the end croaked out a resigned “I check.” Duhamel turned over his {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Haxton apologised for his long tank against eight high showing his {k-}{10-}.

Misfire by Behbehani

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Salman Behbehani busted earlier in the tournament, but after a short break he decided to exercise his reentry option. He was assigned a new table, took his seat, and donned his headphones. He also enlisted the services of a massage therapist. Within minutes he was gone.

We didn't catch the action, but Behbehani looked shellshocked as he got up from his chair mid-massage and removed his headphones. Needless to say, he probably wish he'd waited a little long before reentering. Likewise, the same could be said of Benny Spindler and Salman Behbehani, both of whom have busted for a second time.

More for Shorr

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr

Shannon Shorr is up to 74,000 after taking a decent sized pot from Konstantin Puchkov.

Pre-flop Shorr opened to what looked like 2,700 from under-the-gun and then called when Puchkov three-bet from middle position. On the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop Puchkov continuation bet 8,300 and Shorr flat called. The {8-Hearts} turn and {3-Spades} river both went check/check and at showdown Shorr opened {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and it was good.

Shak Involved in Three Way. Busted.

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

A pre-flop raising war saw three players get all the chips in the middle. Dan Shak held {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Georgios Karakousis the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Julian Thomas the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Shak was in big trouble and Karakousis was set to bust two players in one fell swoop. The cards ran out {5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. The turn coming to the rescue of Thomas but Shak was out.

When he’d gone the consensus at the table was that he didn’t really want to be there. Selbst in particular thought he’d be getting it all in in that spot as light as {A-}{9-}. Vamplew admitted that he was itching to get it in with something half decent against him, but they had missed their chance as their quarry fled, his chips divided between two other players at the table. They’d have to get them from someone else now.

That said, Shak opted to reenter.

Fedor Holz Takes One from Marc-Etienne Mclaughlin

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A curious hand just played out between Feder Holz and Marc-Etienne Mclaughlin, it tool almost ten minutes to complete and didn't make it past the turn.

Pre-flop Mclaughlin raised to 2,500 from the cut-off, Holz three-bet to 7,100 and after a long think Mclaughlin smooth called. The dealer spread a {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} flop and Holz reached for chips, 7,800 was his chosen bet size and Mclaughlin went deep into then tank before calling,

The {10-Hearts} turn made it four out of four high community cards and Holz bet again, this time 8,500. Again Mclaughlin took his time, almost three minutes in fact before he ultimately elected to fold and preserve his stack of 38,000. Pot to Holz then, he's up to 115,000.

Simon Higgins Wins Huge Pot Against Oleksii Khoroshenin

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Simon Higgins
Simon Higgins

Simon Higgins just won a monster pot 315,000 chip pot against Oleksii Khoroshenin to usurp the Ukranian at the top of the chip counts.

Higgins (under-the-gun+1), who finished second in the £10,000 High Roller at EPT London in October, had a bet of 20,000 in front of him and there was a bet of 12,500 in front of Khoroshenin. But the pre-flop betting wasn't done yet, Khoroshenin raised it to 35,000 and Higgins made the call.

So there was over 70,000 in the pot by the time the {J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop hit the felt, Khoroshenin fired out a bet of 28,500, Higgins then put too much into the pot, but not enough for it to go as a raise, so a call it was. The {10-Hearts} hit the turn, Khoroshenin set Higgins all-in for 92,000 and after taking his time Higgins called all in.

Higgins: {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Khoroshenin: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

The river was the {9-Clubs} and Higgins doubled to 315,000 whilst Khoroshenin slips to 190,000.
