Double Knockout for Spindler

From under the gun, Franck Kalfon raised to 7,300. In the next seat was Benny Spindler, and he reraised to 19,500. Behind Spindler, action folded to Christophe Benzimra in the cutoff seat. Benzimra, the 2009 EPT Warsaw champion, reraised all in for 59,600. Play then folded back to Kalfon, and he moved all in for 87,400. Spindler took a minute, then called.

Spindler: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Benzimra: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Kalfon: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

On the flop, Kalfon took the lead when the {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Spades} fell. Benzimra had a second-best hand now with his queen kicker losing to Kalfon's king kicker, but Spindler picked up a flush draw, so both players could still very easily lose.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds}, which left Spindler needing a spade that wasn't the king to bust both players and Benzimra needing a non-spade ten.

The river completed the board with the {6-Spades}, and Spindler made his flush. He busted both players en route to shooting up over 500,000 in chips.

Clock Called

Now that the stacks are fairly deep, action has slowed considerably. To make matter worse, the players are taking more than their fair share of time making decisions.

In a recent hand, Alexander Kopylkov opened for 6,000 under the gun only to have Brandon Barnes three-bet to 20,000 one seat over. Benn Spindler then came in with a four-bet to 42,500 from the cutoff, and Kopylkov thought for a solid two minutes before folding his hand. Barnes then thought for another two minutes before five-betting to 100,000, and it was Spindler's turn to take his time.

Several minutes passed while Spindler thought things over, and eventually Franck Kalfon had enough and called for a clock. The floor person made his way over and informed Spindler that he had one minute to act on his hand. After 50 seconds of it had passed, the floor began a ten-second countdown, and when he got to "eight," Spindler finally folded.

Igor vs. Igor

Igor Yaroshevskyy checked on the {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, then Igor Kurganov bet 13,000. Behind Kurganov was Justin Bonomo, and he folded. Yaroshevskyy then check-raised to 28,500, and Kurganov called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds}, and Yaroshevskyy bet 33,500. After making the call, Kurganov had 85,900 behind, and the dealer dealt the {5-Spades} on the river. Yaroshevskyy checked, and Kurganov bet 21,200. Yaroshevskyy tanked for a bit, then folded, and Kurganov won the pot.

Barnes Knocks Out Bondar with Quads

Benny Spindler checked the flop of {A-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Andrey Bondar fired 13,000. Alexander Kopylkov then called before action fell on Brandon Barnes. Barnes raised and made it 53,200. Spindler folded, and Bondar reraised all in. Kopylkov folded, and Barnes quickly called with the {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Bondar held the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for top pair and a flush draw, while Kopylkov showed that he laid down {A-}{J-}.

The turn gave Barnes all he needed when the {5-Hearts} landed and he smacked quads. Bondar was drawing dead and already out of his chair when the {9-Spades} landed on the river.
