Toni Pettersson raised to 285,000 from the small blind but Michael Piper moved all-in for almost 3 million. Pettersson shot him an accusing glance but ended up folding.
Soon after though, Pettersson called a raise in the big blind against Dmitry Stelmak before check-raising the Russian's 270,000 bet on a flop to a total of 900,000.
Stelmak blinked a few times and we almost detected a slight gurning, but he folded leaving himself as one of our shorter stacks.
During one of the earlier breaks, Gloria caught up with Michael Piper (the man we were calling 'Awesome mustache guy' before we learned his name on Day 1) to talk about that legendary facial hair and possibly a bit about the poker game he's in the middle of right now too. Have a look-see:
Jakob Carlsson raised to 225,000 and Giuseppe Diep asked, "How much?" before flat-calling from the button. Atanas Gueorguiev in the big blind came along for the ride too, and they saw a flop.
Flop:
It checked around to Diep who bet 325,000. Gueorguiev folded but Carlsson made the call and they went heads-up to the turn.
Turn:
Carlsson checked again and this time Diep pushed all in. Carlsson insta-called.
Diep: for two pair
Carlsson: for, er, the same two pair.
The academic river was dealt, and they chopped up the pot.
Ramon Demon Cserei got his last 360,000 in from the cutoff and got called by both Jakob Carlsson and Claudio Piceci in the blinds.
Cserei was in for a long, presumably miserable sweat as although both players checked the flop, Carlsson bet out 185,000 on the turn and after a moment Piceci called. Carlsson bet out another 470,000 on the river and this time Piceci folded.
On their backs and Cserei's pocket fives were no good as Carlsson's had made the nuts. Thus we lose our last Romanian, and with just 10 players left his seat is now being occupied by Giuseppe Diep brought over from the other table.
It seems as though, on the outer table at least, no-one is interested in a pot unless they already have some equity beyond the 10,000 ante.
It folded around to Michael Piper in the small blind, who announced all in to cover Claudio Rinaldi. Rinaldi folded.
Then it folded around to Claudio Rinaldi in the small blind, who shoved into big blind Dmitry Stelmak.Stelmak folded and Rinaldi took the pot.
Then next hand it folded around to Stelmak in the small blind, who quite reasonably thought it must be his turn and raised to 250,000. This time, however, the big blind bit back - Giuseppe Diep pushed for 1.6 million and Stelmak folded his hand.
First hand back and it folded around to Jakob Carlsson in the small blind, who raised. Big blind Claudio Piceci announced all in to cover, and Carlsson quickly called.
Piceci:
Carlsson:
Board:
Carlsson doubled to around 4.2 million. Piceci was by no means reduced to short stack status, though - he was left with around 2.6 million after that.
Let's play some more poker, shall we? The jump up to the current blinds of 50/100,000 is a significant one, as is the ante jumping to 10,000. It now costs players 200-210,000 chips to play each orbit, depending on which table they find themselves at.
To make things easier on everyone, the "bumblebee" colored T100,000 chips have been brought into play for only the second time this season.
