Maridu Finds a Hand

Don't mess with Maridu
Don't mess with Maridu
Maridu Mayrinck, who has been bonding with Chris Ferguson over the subject of the latter's girlfriend who, like Mayrinck, is Brazilian -- that same Maridu Mayrinck raised to 25,000 under the gun, and it folded around to that same Chris Ferguson in the big blind who tentatively made the call.

They saw a {J-Spades} {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs} flop and Ferguson checked it, and then swiftly folded to a 45,000 bet from Mayrinck, robbing us of any further entertainment. "My first big hand in ages," confessed Mayrinck. It's like Ferguson could tell.

Swan-Song

Song Lee has been knocked out by Kevin McPhee after he made a move with {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} against McPhee's {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} and a comprehensive board of {8-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {K-Clubs} sealed his fate.

It Ain't Over for Obst

James Obst was all in with {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} after open-shoving for his last 153,000, and Max Heinzelmann called with {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}.

Obst was standing in preparation to leave as soon as the flop came down, but he was clearly just bluffing the poker gods -- the turn and river came down completely harmless, and he doubles to around 310,000.

Board: {J-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs}

Amsellem Loses Chips, Scarf, Air of Mystery

Jeremy Amsellem, notable in the cardroom these past few days for the Arabic head scarf he's had actually tied right over his face so you can't see him, occasionally hiking it up over his eyes he can't see you either -- anyway, this Mr. Amsellem moved all in with {8-Spades} {9-Spades} and found himself up against small blind Rodrigo Caprioli's {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}.

Board: {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts}

Big blind Peter Eastgate said he'd folded {A-?} {J-?}. Either way, Mr. Amsellem, his scarf finally removed and the press slightly disappointed that he has no intriguing disfigurements underneath it, is busto.

Kelly Belly-Up

Hmph.
Hmph.
Alessandro Lusso raised from the button and JP Kelly in the big blind moved all in for 103,500.

Lusso tanked up long enough for your blogger to do two circuits of the cardroom, and eventually had the clock called on him. At some point within his one minute countdown, he called with pocket sixes, and found Kelly holding a still coinflipping {10-?} {8-?}. Kelly failed to hit, and instead he hits the rail. Good thing he's got a couple of bracelets and a bunch of money at home to ease his EPT pain.

Zink Sinks

Sebastian Zink got himself involved from under the gun with Theo Tran in the big blind, and we caught up with the action on the turn of the {4-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs} board.

Tran checked and Zink bet 54,000. After a moment, Tran called. They saw an {8-Clubs} river and Tran checked again. This time Zink bet 106,000 and Tran spent a moment being generally flustered before calling. Zink mucked straight away.

"Do I have to show?" asked Tran. No, was the answer. "Ah, I'll show anyway," said Tran, and turned over {A-Clubs} {9-Hearts}.

Zink is down to 125,000, while Tran is up above the 600,000 mark.
