$400 Mystery Bounty
Day 1gh Completed
As with Day 1f, flights 1g and 1h of Winter Poker Open Event #4: $400- $300k GTD Mystery Bounty both ended right around the eight-hour mark with players from each flight in the money and advancing to Day 2.
Leading both flights is Jason Burruss (673,000) from 1g who gained momentum mid-way through the day when he busted Christopher McCauley kept up the pressure until bagging. Close behind him is the 1f chipleader Charles Blanchard who bagged 667,000 after taking down several big pots late in the evening and in third is Terance Perez who improved his bag from yesterday with 511,000. He and David Shaw both scored the $1,000 bag bonus today as Shaw bagged up the closing flight with 415,000 to put him in fifth while James Galloway held the fourth place spot with 434,000.

By the first break of the day, It was McCauley who had all of the chips with around 100,000 after he hit quads to bust Vivek Shingala. He then built his stack up to over 150,000 by the time registration closed, but then had dwindled down to around 75,000 when he moved all in with ace-king against Burress with the rockets. Ravee Sundara and Will Leffingwell also built up a hefty stack through the day, with Leffingwell bagging 306,000 and Sundara finishing with 309,000.
A couple of players that fired today who failed to bag included David Mann, Cord Garcia, Drake Kemper, Dexter Baier, and Ray Henson. Fortunately for them, there are still plenty of chances to get to Day 2.
An even larger field is expected for the Saturday flights tomorrow, and with only around 30 more players to meet the guarantee, it's safe to say $300,000 will be greatly surpassed by the end of the last flight on Sunday. As always, PokerNews will be on deck providing coverage every step of the way until a champion is crowned on the aptly-named Champions Club live stream on Monday.

With the elimination of Thuy Nguyen, play has ended as the remaining 18 players have bagged up their chips to return on Monday for Day 2.
A recap of the day's events will be released shortly along with the official chip counts from both of today's flights.
Thuy Nguyen moved all in for his last 20,000 and Benjamin Gonzalez called to put him at risk.
Thuy Nguyen: 9♣10♥
Benjamin Gonzalez: A♦2♥
The board ran out K♠4♥8♦K♣3♣ for Gonzalez's ace-high to win and Nguyen was sent to the rail as the bubble boy.

Benjamin Gonzalez | 261,000 | |

Vladyslav Shovkovyi opened to 22,000 and then Sanad Dahbour moved all in for 186,000.
"Well, I'm probably not folding," Shovkovyi admitted as he went into the tank.
"Yes, come on bro, double me up please," Dahbour said to him, and after a few moments, Shovkovyi made the call to put him at risk in the big pot.
Sanad Dahbour: K♠K♣
Vladyslav Shovkovyi: A♥Q♦
The board ran out Q♠8♥5♠6♥4♠ for Dahbour's kings to hold and he was awarded the pot for a big double on the bubble.

Short-stacked Matt Liu moved all in preflop and was called by Raymond Garcia to put him at risk on the stone bubble.
Matt Liu: Q♠10♦
Raymond Garcia: 4♥4♦
"Ok big cards, big cards," Liu proclaimed, but the flop came out 5♠8♥K♣, which was no help to him.
"Ok, any big card!" he says as the turn J♠ brought him a lot of outs, as any nine, queen, ten, or ace would give him the win.
"We back!" Liu shouted as he stacked his new chips.
Sure enough, the A♥ spiked on the river to give him the nut straight and he was awarded the pot for a much-needed double.

With the eliminations of Bao Vinh, Lawrence Wayne, and Tri Hoang in rapid succession, there are now 19 players remaining in Day 1h.
With 18 advancing, they are now on the money/bag bubble and hand-for-hand is now in effect.
The 26 remaining players in Day 1h are now on a quick 15-minute break and will return to action shortly.
"For the love of god, it's a romper!" Conor Fulkerson shouted at the neighboring table who were trying to decipher Carson Wieland's description of a women's garment.
"Ahhhh," the table realized in unison and went back about their business. Meanwhile, Fulkerson was all in and had just been called by Eddie Villegas to put him at risk.
Conor Fulkerson: 9♣9♦
Eddie Villegas:A♠J♦
The flop was not kind to Fulkerson as it came K♠J♦A♥ to give Villegas two-pair, but the turn sure was as the 9♥ smacked down to give him the lead with a set. The river was the 2♥ to secure his victory and he was awarded the pot for a double.
He then announced that he would wear a romper to the Main Event if he happens to win the Mystery Bounty.
"Verbal is binding", he was reminded by the dealer.
