Gordon Starting to Pull Away

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

The turned board read {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts} and there was around 750,000 in the pot. Arnaldo Gordon bet 450,000 and Gino Gesso obliged.

The {5-Spades} completed the board and both players checked, Gordon tabled {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Gesso mucked, shipping the pot to Gordon.

Alek Givotovsky Eliminated in 7th Place ($8,526)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Alek Givotovsky
Alek Givotovsky

Alek Givotovsky took a few bad hits, leaving him short as he started this hand. Givotovsky shoved all in for 740,000 from under the gun and Thomas Tolbert snap-called from the big blind.

Alek Givotovsky: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Thomas Tolbert: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The flop rolled out {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Givotovsky picked up some straight outs. A {5-Clubs} turn card left Givotovsky in need of a river to stay alive.

A {10-Clubs} river was of no help to Givotovsky as he fell to the big slick of Tolbert, being eliminated in seventh place.

Gruneberg Does It Again

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Alek Givotovsky opened to 175,000 from middle position and Zach Gruneberg jammed all in for 980,000 total. Givotovsky called, putting Gruneberg at risk as the two tabled their cards.

Zach Gruneberg: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Alek Givotovsky: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The scary flop of {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} peeled off on the table, giving Givotovsky a flush draw. The {4-Hearts} landed on the turn and Gruneberg needed to dodge a diamond to stay alive and double. A {4-Clubs} completed the board, cementing the pot for Gruneberg who found his third double of the final table thus far.

Gesso Jams the River, Gordon Respectively Declines

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

The flop showed {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and there was around 550,000 in the pot. Arnaldo Gordon bet 230,000, Gino Gesso called and the {10-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Gordon pushed in a heavy bet of 475,000 and Gesso called without any sign of hesitation. A {2-Diamonds} completed the board, Gordon tapped to Gesso who moved all in and Gordon instantly mucked, sending the healthy-sized pot to Gesso.

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Sal Anastasio
Sal Anastasio

Sal Anastasio opened from under the gun to 150,000 and Arnaldo Gordon called from middle position. The fanned out {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} on the flop and Anastasio pushed in a continuation bet of 225,000.

Gordon called and the {4-Spades} landed on the turn. Anastasio moved all in and Gordon snap-called before Anastasio could even push his chips into the middle.

Anastasio turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for a pair of aces but was drawing dead when Gordon tabled {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for a flopped set of jacks. The {j-Spades} completed the board, adding insult to injury as Gordon ended with quads, eliminating Anastasio from the tournament in eighth place.

Gesso Turns the Nuts vs. Givotovsky

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Arnaldo Gordon opened to 135,000 from under the gun, Gino Gesso called in the cutoff and Alek Givotovsky defended his big blind. The dealer spread out {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} on the flop and action checked to Gesso who bet 200,000.

Givotovsky check-raised to 510,000 and Gordon released his hand. Gesso moved all in for 1,075,000 total and Givotovsky called, tabling {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for top pair. "I only have a straight draw," said Gesso as he turned over {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for an open ender.

The {a-Hearts} instantly slapped down on the turn, completing the straight for Gesso as Givotovsky was now only drawing to a split. A {3-Clubs} river card was not that of a split and Gesso pulled in the pot for a complete double through Givotovsky.

Tim Macht Eliminated in 9th Place ($4,438)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Tim Macht
Tim Macht

Tim Macht moved all in for around 700,000 from under the gun and Sal Anastasio shoved over the top for about 100,000 more. Derek Staib called both and the three players turned over their hands.

Tim Macht: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Sal Anastasio: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Derek Staib: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Macht was in a great position to triple up but the cards had something different in mind as the dealer fanned out {k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on the flop, hitting a king for both of his opponents as he was now on the tail-end of things. An {8-Clubs} turn and {j-Hearts} river completed the board, cementing the pot for Staib and Anastasio as they split the bounty of Macht who was eliminated in ninth place.
