Cohen's Miraculous Recovery

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Earlier Joel Cohen was left with just 1,500 in chips after Jean-Serge Baril doubled through him. However, after a fortuitous number of doubles - including cracking the kings of Sergio Aido - he currently sits on a sack of 66,000 in chips.

"Not bad from 1,500!" he said to us. "But not good from 200k!"

Ten Away from the Bubble

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The tournament clock currently shows 98 of 820 players remaining, meaning the Aussie Millions Main Event is just ten eliminations away from the money.

Expect the pace of eliminations to slow both for the remaining 15 minutes of this level and well into next level, but once the bubble does burst the remaining 88 players will be guaranteed A$15,580. Here are the first couple of pay jumps once the money is reached:

PlacePayout (in AUD)Payout (in USD)

57-72A$20,500$14,110

Madsen Still In It

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Dan Shak defended his big blind against a raise by Jeff Madsen, who then got the last 65,000 in after a flop of {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and went into showdown against Shak.

Jeff Madsen: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Dan Shak: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

The {9-Clubs} turn and {5-Diamonds} river were no threat for Madsen and he doubled.

Weis Wakes Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Didier Guerin shoved for about 60,000 in the small blind. Oliver Weis picked up both cards, nodded in approval and dropped in some chips.

Guerin: {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Weis: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The turn made things a little interesting on the {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} board but the river was a {10-Spades}.

Double Elimination Boosts Bansal

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Paawan Bansal
Paawan Bansal

Paawan Bansal raised to 9,500 on the button and Koray Aldemir moved all in for around 60,000 in the small blind. The player in the big blind moved in also for slightly less and Bansal asked for a count.

He took his time before calling with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Both Aldemir and the third player in the hand were disappointed tabling {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} respectively.

"I was trying to make him fold," said the big blind.

"I was trying to make him call!" replied Aldemir.

The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} giving Bansal a full house and he sent two players to the rail.

Vikas Busts to Jouhkimainen

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

In a preflop raising war, Ricky Vikas got it all-in for more than 180,000 with the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and was in dire shape as Joni Jouhkimainen had him dominated with the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. It was the second time this level that the Finn had kings and the outcome was the same on a board of {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

Wan Doubles Through Ong

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Vincent Wan was all-in for 96,000 from the hijack and picked up a caller from one seat over, as big stack Dingxiang Ong looked him up from the cutoff.

Wan tabled the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Ong had that crushed with {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. However, the board came {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} to give Wan an unlikely straight and the double.

Young Bests Lamb Before the Break

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

On a {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts} board Ben Lamb bet 41,000 and Maxwell Young called on the button.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Lamb bet 104,000 leaving himself 90,000 behind. Young then raised all in for 182,000.

Lamb tanked two minutes into the break before folding. Young turned over {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} and took down the pot, chipping up to over 400,000 in the process.

Seidel Thriving

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Not far off the money bubble, one of the shorter stacks moved in for what appeared to be 85,000 and he was called by Erik Seidel.

The player at risk held {q-Spades}{5-Spades} and Seidel tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} to see the board run out {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, giving Seidel the checkmark on the turn.

Gupta Rocketing Upward

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

It looked like the flop checked through three ways for a board of {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs}. David Miscikowski bet 25,000 from the small blind and Ash Gupta made it 75,000 on his left. Scott Margereson folded on the button and Miscikowski called fairly quickly. The river was a {10-Clubs} and Miscikowski checked. Gupta fired 125,000.

Miscikowski wiped the sweat from his hands and contemplated briefly but folded. Gupta flashed {7-}{7-} for a set.
