Jiang Doubles Through Zhang

Level 7 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Sosia Jiang defended her big blind and check-raised the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop to 8,700, which initial raiser Chi Zhang called. Jiang then bet the {4-Spades} turn and called the shove of Zhang for her last 30,400.

Sosia Jiang: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Chi Zhang: {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The board completed with the {5-Spades} on the river and Jiang doubled to send Zhang back to the starting stack.

Lim Doubles van Blarcum

Level 7 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Chin Wei Lim raised to 3,000 from early position and quickly called the shove of Aaron van Blarcum in the big blind.

Aaron van Blarcum: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Chin Wei Lim: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The {q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop have Lim top pair while van Blarcum had the nut flush draw. He filled up with the {6-Clubs} turn and the {4-Clubs} on the river was a blank to let van Blarcum double for 33,600.

Wang and Shak Eliminated

Level 7 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Juafeng Wang got his stack in with the {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and start-of-the-day chip leader Kahle Burns looked him up with the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The board came {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Burns flopped a set, then turned a full house to leave his opponent drawing dead.

Dan Shak followed to the rail shortly after and James Romero joined the action for the first time.

Jetten Busts to Yokosawa and Re-Enters

Level 7 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Another three new entries have emerged as Michael Lim, Tsugunari Toma, and Peter Jetten all opted to re-enter. Jetten was eliminated just a few minutes ago when he got it in with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} against the {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} of Masato Yokosawa and the board came {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} to let the superior pair remain supreme.

Jetten received the very same seat upon returning to the field.

Toma Busts; Smith Joins

Level 7 : 700/1,400, 1,400 ante

Tsugunari Toma got his stack in with king-queen and was called by Chin Wei Lim with the {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

On a board of {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, Toma failed to hit anything and became the first casualty of the day.

In the meanwhile, Dan Smith has re-entered and that has boosted the field to 71 entries.

Welcome to Day 2 of the 2020 Aussie Millions A$50,000 Challenge

Steve O'Dwyer among the big stacks heading into Day 2
Steve O'Dwyer among the big stacks heading into Day 2

A new record has been set already at the 2020 Aussie Millions as the A$50,000 Challenge drew a total of 67 entries thus far, beating the previous best field size of 62 entries in 2019 by five entries. However, the registration remains open for the first 60-minute level on Day 2 as of 2.10 p.m. local time and several players have already expressed their interest in joining the action in the poker room of the Crown Casino complex.

Fresh off a hot run in the last six months that saw him win two bracelets during the 2019 WSOPE, Kahle Burns will return with the biggest stack of 226,400 and he is followed by Elio Fox (187,700) and Michael Soyza (187,400), who are separated by fewer than half a big blind.

Other big stacks in a field filled with High Roller regulars are Mike Watson (169,600), Sam Greenwood (161,300), Steve O'Dwyer (151,600), Seth Davies (136,200), Mikita Badziakouski (131,500), Shan Huang (128,300), and last year's A$25,000 Challenge winner Rainer Kempe (115,600). O'Dwyer led the field into Day 2 of this year's A$25,000 Challenge and eventually finished in third place.

All those that wish to join or re-join the action can do so in the first hour of play with blinds of 700-1,400 and a big blind ante of 1,400. Once the registration closes at the end of level seven, the prize pool details will be finalized for the second-most expensive tournament of the 2020 Aussie Millions festival. Whether or not the tournament will play down to a champion or requires an additional third day remains to be seen.

Stay tuned to find out who takes down the next High Roller event here in Melbourne as the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor from start to finish to provide all the action.
