More Bananas; No Call for Spadavecchia

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Robert Nguyen bet 55,000 on the turn of a board {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and Najeem Ajez eventually folded. Nguyen this time only showed one card and it was the {6-Hearts}. Table neighbor Vic Spadavecchia asked him to also show the {6-Spades} but Nguyen didn't oblige.

Michael Tomeny then raised to 18,000 and Spadavecchia moved all in. The dealer counted the stack for 94,000 chips and Tomeny folded, because his opponent had not played any hand as of lately.

Taylor Busts to Hoefer

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Asj Taylor
Asj Taylor

The action folded to Asj Taylor and he moved all in from the cutoff for less than 10 big blinds. Paul Hoefer also moved all in from the button and the players in the blinds folded.

Taylor: {J-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Hoefer: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} improved Taylor, but Hoefer regained the lead on the {K-Hearts} turn. A blank {7-Spades} river sent the dealer to verify the counts and Taylor's 67,000 stack was covered by half a big blind.

The Banana Beats Riech

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Ferenc Riech
Ferenc Riech

"I am banana," Robert Nguyen joked in the one seat after just having raked in a huge pot and sent Ferenc Riech to the rail. Nguyen had been the most active player at the table and showed bluffs at least twice, also pretending to be on tilt while listening to music on his headphones.

Just now, Nguyen opened and called the three-bet to 34,000 before the flop came {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Nguyen check-called a bet of 28,000 before both checked through the {2-Clubs} turn. On the {A-Hearts} river, Nguyen moved all in instantly, which he had done previously already with the nuts to double up.

Riech had 108,000 chips behind and pondered about his decision for some time, then eventually called and much to the surprise of everyone at the table flipped over {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a bluff catcher. This time, Nguyen had it again with the {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a flush and jumped into the lead.

"He cannot call there with king-high," Vic Spadavecchia said in the two seat while Najeem Ajez replied "if he is bluffing, the king-high is good." The German left the tournament area, but not without saying "if he continues like this (Nguyen), you will have a lot of fun ahead."

Yustinus Bad-Beats Ward

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Paul Ward raised to 15,000 from the cutoff and Karib Yustinus shoved for 92,000 from the small blind. Ward made the call for half his stack and held the dominating pocket pair:

Yustinus: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Ward: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} changed nothing just yet, but the {3-Diamonds} turn now opened the chance of a straight for Yustinus. Sure enough the dealer burned and turned the {5-Diamonds} on the river and Yustinus doubled up.

Bechim and Tomeny Double

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mufit Bechim was all in for less than 10 big blinds and Michael Tomeny reshoved from one seat over to isolate.

Bechim: {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Tomeny: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop left Bechim drawing very thin, however the {J-Spades} turn and {9-Diamonds} river provided a runner runner straight.

Tomeny was all in shortly after for 53,000 himself and Ferenc Riech looked him up out of the blinds.

Tomeny: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Riech: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The player at risk secured the double on the turn of a board {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Bechim as well as Tomeny are on approximately the same stack now.
