Rubie Climbing Back

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

With many small pots and three showdowns, Brendon Rubie has increased his stack slightly again to narrowly close the gap to Michael Dix. Rubie once had {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for middle pair paid off for 80,000 on the river and another small pot saw him make two pair on turn and river with the {4-Spades}{2-Spades} without any further bets.

Then, Dix raised to 80,000 and Rubie called. On the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, Rubie check-called a bet of 80,000 and did so again for 180,000 on the {Q-Spades} turn. Both players checked the {10-Clubs} river and Dix showed king-queen only for Rubie to claim the pot with {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

The last big pot of the level ended in a raising war and split pot. Rubie had min-raised and Dix called before both checked the {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop and the {Q-Diamonds} turn. On the {3-Spades} river, Dix bet 80,000, Rubie made it 320,000 and then called once Dix squeezed to 820,000. Both players had made a straight with {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} (Rubie) respectively {K-Hearts}{4-Spades} (Dix).
