Ivey Nearly Doubles Again

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante

Phil Ivey limped and then called a raise of 240,000 from Haxton. When the flop came down {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, Haxton bet 480,000, Ivey called, and the {4-Spades} turned. Haxton checked, Ivey bet 700,000, and Haxton check-raised all in. Ivey snap-called off and the cards were turned up.

Ivey: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}
Haxton: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Haxton held a double gutshot straight draw, but Ivey already held the straight. Ivey was primed for another double, but then the dealer put out the {6-Hearts} on the river. Haxton made the same eight-high straight and they chopped the pot.

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante
Phil Ivey doubles
Phil Ivey doubles

On the button, Isaac Haxton raised to 265,000. Phil Ivey made the call from the big blind, and the flop came down {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Ivey checked, and Haxton bet 265,000. Ivey check-raised to 650,000, and then Haxton moved all in. Ivey quickly made the call and tabled the {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for top two pair. Haxton showed an open-ended straight draw with the {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

The turn was the {5-Spades} to give Ivey a full house and secure him the double up. The river completed the board with the {3-Spades}.

Ivey Gets Some Back

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante

Isaac Haxton limped and Phil Ivey checked his option to see a flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Ivey check-called a bet of 320,000, the {3-Spades} turned, and Ivey checked for a second time. Haxton bet another 320,000, and this time Ivey pushed back with a check-raise to 800,000. It worked as Haxton laid down his hand.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Haxton fired 375,000. Ivey made the call to see the {9-Spades} land on the river. Both players checked.

First Hand Off Heads-Up Play Goes to Haxton

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante

In the first hand of heads-up play, it appeared Isaac Haxton limped and then called when Phil Ivey exercised his option with a raise to 240,000. Ivey then led out for 300,000 on the {k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop, Haxton called, and the dealer burned and turned the {10-Diamonds}.

Ivey checked, Haxton bet 500,000, and Ivey called. When the {Q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Ivey checked and Haxton moved all in. Ivey thought for nearly two minutes before giving up on the hand.

Mike McDonald Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$1,900,000)

Level 18 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante
Mike McDonald - 3rd Place
Mike McDonald - 3rd Place

Mike McDonald moved all in from the small blind, and Isaac Haxton called from the big blind. McDonald was the player at risk with the {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and Haxton had the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. The flop, turn, and river ran out {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and McDonald fell in third place.

McDonald took home AU$1,900,000 for his finish and was able to profit AU$1,150,000 after firing three bullets similar to Daniel Negreanu for a total of AU$750,000 in buy-ins to this event. What's more is that McDonald finished runner-up in the $100,000 Challenge just a couple days ago for AU$1,500,000 to put his total take at AU$3,400,000.
