Youssef Gets Scooped

Four players limped into the pot, including Michael Guttman and David Steicke, before Sam Youssef bumped it up from the big blind. Of course everyone called and they saw a {5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop.

Youssef fired, forcing folds from Sticky and Steicke, but Shane Harding moved all in for 375 in total. Youssef made the call.

Youssef: {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Harding: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and river the {J-Diamonds} and neither player could muster a low as Harding scooped with the nut flush.

Harding climbs back to 2,950 with Youssef now down to 4,900.

Annette_15 No Shows

Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad is on our list of tournament players but so far we've yet to spot her in the field. Apparently she pre-registered but has yet to take her seat in today's event. Currently her dead stack is being blinded off and now sits at 3,800 chips. Will she make an appearance?

Players Find the "Fold" Button

Josh Field
Josh Field
With stack sizes changing more drastically now that we're in Level 4, we're actually staring to see some players fold on the flop. In a recent three-way pot, Alexander Kostritsyn bet the {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} flop after Josh Field checked. Field check-raised, prompting Kostritsyn to three-bet. Field mucked his hand shortly thereafter.

Collina Wheels Out Cabrera

Abel Cabrera raised from early position and found two callers in the blinds in Robert Collina and David Steicke.

The flop fell {A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Cabrera's bet was once again called in two spots. The turn was the {3-Spades} and this time Collina led out with a bet. Steicke called, as did Cabrera for the last of his chips.

The river brought the {J-Hearts} and Collina fired once more, with Steicke making the call.

Collina tabled {2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Spades} for the wheel -- good for the high and the low, to send Cabrera to the rail.

Wrong Game

Van Marcus
Van Marcus
Van Marcus is in a joking mood today. He opened a recent pot with a raise from the cutoff and was called by both blinds. On a flop of {2-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades}, the blinds both checked. Marcus announced, "Pot" with a laugh before throwing out 200 chips. The blinds called to see the {8-Hearts} hit the turn. Again they checked. This time, Marcus said, "Maximum." He then placed 400 chips in the pot. One opponent called all in for less.

"Freeroll," said Marcus as he showed {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {K-Spades} to his opponent's {A-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {8-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. When the river fell {9-Clubs}, Marcus wound up with three-quarters of the pot.

Bigger Limits Mean Bigger Pots

Now that the preliminary levels are completed, the action is starting to pick up a bit. Graeme Putt was recently eliminated when his top straight went up against Jason Gray's top set. The board repeated, and with no low out there, Putt was left with the second-best hand. Gray now has 8,200 in chips.

On a nearby table, Abel Cabrera was all in preflop for 250 and found four callers. He managed to make the high, tabling {a-Clubs} {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {4-Spades} on a board of {2-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {A-Spades}. He is hanging on with 650 chips. Rainer Quel, who took the low half of the pot, is on about 14,500 chips.

A Game of the Nuts

It's often mentioned that Omaha is a game of the nuts, and a recent four-way pot at Ivan Demidov's table illustrates that concept beautifully. Demidov raised preflop after two players had limped in. Jason Gray called the raise from the button, as did the limpers. The four men took a flop of {6-Clubs} {2-Spades} {9-Spades}. Action checked to Demidov, who fired out a bet. Everyone called to the turn, which came {3-Spades}. On this street, action checked to Gray in late position. He seized the initiative with a bet that was called only by one of the limpers; the other limper and Demidov both surrendered their hands.

On the river {J-Spades}, Gray and his opponent each put one bet into the pot and then showed down their hands. Gray made the nut low with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs}; his opponent made the second-nut high with {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}.
