Honeybone Doubles Up

Just before we hit the last break of the day, James Honeybone opened a pot for 2,000 from the small blind. The big blind reraised to 5000. Honeybone considered his options before moving all in for about 14,000 total. The big blind made the call in very bad shape -- his pocket tens were a significant underdog to Honeybone's pocket aces. Neither player improved when the board ran out {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {J-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Spades}. Honeybone doubled up.

Chan Hanging Around

Johnny Chan refuses to knuckle under. He recently got a desperate double-up when he was all in preflop against one opponent. Chan was behind in the hand with {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} but had two live cards against his opponent's {A-Hearts} {5-Spades}. A board of {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {5-Diamonds} made Chan a pair of nines and the winning hand.

He remains fairly short with about 11,000 chips.

Cornwall's Day En-ded

Cornwall Busto
Cornwall Busto
The highs and lows of Mark Cornwall's day have just come to an end in a battle of the blinds against Richard En.

En raised preflop to 2,100 from the small blind and Cornwall made the call from the big blind. They took a flop of {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and En led out for 3,000. Cornwall then moved all in for 11,000 in total but En snap-called tabling {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} to have Cornwall outkicked with his {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} but the river was the {K-Diamonds} to give En the pot and eliminate Cornwall from the field.

Kou Applies Pressure

It was a raised pot between Vang Kou and Simon Johansson. The flop came out {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Spades}, bringing a check from Kou. Johansson fired out 2,500 only to see Kou check-raise to 6,000. Johansson made the call, but then folded on the {9-Hearts} turn after Kou bet 8,000.

Kou increased his stack to 45,000, while Johansson slipped to 28,000.

Cowboy Up

Carter Gill
Carter Gill
Carter Gill is threatening to go wire to wire with the chip lead. He has knocked out another opponent. This time the victim was Antonio Naves. The two players got it all in on a board of {3-Spades} {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds}. Naves tabled {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for top pair, but Gill had an overpair -- the very same {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} that tablemate Johnny Chan couldn't get to work. The turn {7-Spades} breathed some life into Naves by giving him a flush draw, but Gill's cowboys held up when the river bricked out {4-Clubs}.

Naves is out. Gill now has 87,000 and remains far and away the chip leader.

Chan's Cowboys Can't Get It Done

For the second hand in a row, Keno Myoga shoved all in preflop. Chan looked down at pocket kings and made an easy call. Myoga tabled {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} and won the pot when he turned a wheel on a board of {3-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}.

Chan remains in the tournament, but with just 7,000 chips he is severely short-stacked. And none too pleased about losing this hand. For his part, Myoga seems happy with his stack of 15,000.

So Long Quinn Do

Quinn Do was severely short-stacked and all in from the big blind holding {Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} but found himself with the best hand against the {J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} of Richard En.

However the board fell {K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and En found a pair on the river to take it down and eliminate Do.

Cornwall Hits One-Outer For Straight-Flush

Mark Cornwall Hits One-Outer
Mark Cornwall Hits One-Outer
Mark Cornwall raised it up to 1,700 before an opponent moved all in. Cornwall made the call with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} but was in trouble as his opponent turned over {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

Popular poker pro Kenny Tran happened to be standing by the table chatting with some players and observing the action as the board was dealt.

The first four cards fell {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs} giving both players a flush, but Cornwall's queen-high flush trailed the ace-high flush of his opponent. Just before the river was dealt Kenny Tran commented "he has one out...the ten of clubs" and right on cue, almost as if the gods had heard the call from Tran (and not for the first time!), the {10-Clubs} peeled off for a remarkable one-outer for the straight-flush to send Cornwall's opponent to the rail to the shock of the table!

Cornwall now sits with 25,000 as his opponent heads to the "Bad Beat Booth".
