Still Tangling

Level 15 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The flop was {4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and JJ Liu, in the small blind, bet 200,000 into a pot of about 300,000. Quan Zhou, on the button, made the call.

Liu bet 150,000 when the {6-Diamonds} turn came. Zhou raised to 350,000 and Liu made the call. Both players checked the {3-Spades} river. Liu showed {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and missed her draw. Zhou tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and had a much calmer version of his celebratory chant.

The players are going on break and we will be back with chips counts in a few minutes.

The Bubble Bursts; The Players Are In The Money

Level 15 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Quan Zhou, Current Chip Leader

Just one minute after the last post, Yuguang Li went in for his final 40,000 from the small blind and it was an automatic call for Quan Zhou in the big.

Zhou: {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Li: {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

Li found a jack on the {j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} board but Zhou had an open-ended straight draw which came with the {9-Spades} turn. The river {5-Clubs} didn't change anything as Li leaves the tournament without a paycheck. The remaining players are all guaranteed at least HK$333,950.

Bubble Equals Tight Play

Level 15 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

It has been 1:30 min since Kevin Clark was eliminated setting up the money bubble. For a tournament that lost 2/3 of the field on the first day and 14 players within the first hour and a half today, it certainly is a change of pace.

With four players with less than 1/2 an average chip stack, we keep waiting for someone to make a move. But the short stacks are not that anxious to get their money in the middle. It is understandable though with 8th place paying $0 and 7th place paying HK$333,950 (~$43,000).

Zhou and Liu Again

Level 14 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

As the two biggest stacks on the table, you would think Quan Zhou and JJ Liu would stay out of each other's way but that is certainly not the case here.

Action folded to Zhou, on the button who raised to 55,000. Liu was in the small blind and made the call.

The {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop was dealt and Liu led for 64,000. Zhou went through some chip antics trying to get a read off of Liu and ended up making the call.

The {a-Hearts} turn caused Liu to check and Zhou answered with a bet of 100,000. Liu insta-folded her hand, flashing her cards to Zhou. We didn't catch what they were but we did see Zhou show {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Liu could only smirk at being bluffed off her hand.

Battle of The Big Stacks

Level 14 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
J.J. Liu from Yesterday
J.J. Liu from Yesterday

JJ Liu min-raised from under the gun to 48,000. It folded around to Quan Zhou in the big blind who called the bet. Both players checked the {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop. Zhou also check the {a-Hearts} turn but Liu took advantage of her position to net 25,000.

Zhou wasn't ready to give up and raised to 95,000 and after some thought and a serious stare down, Liu made the call. Zhou checked the {j-Clubs} river and Liu bet150,000. Zhou tried to get a read from Liu by counting out raising chips but she wasn't giving anything away. Zhou ended up folded and this one goes to Liu.
