Gomez Gets Through

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Joining the action on a flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} with three players involved, Alberto Gomez called a bet of 1,300 whereas the third player in the hand out of the blinds mucked. On the {9-Clubs} turn the Spaniard called another bet of 2,000 before the action was checked to him on the {A-Spades} river.

Gomez wasted little time and bet 10,000 to scoop the pot without having to show his cards.

Zhou Rivered

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Xing Zhou

The action started with the player in middle position raising to 1,000. He was called by the player on the button as well as the small blind before Xing Zhou bumped it up to 4,500 from the big blind. The original raiser called as did the small blind and the three watched the flop come down {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

The small blind then instantly moved all in for his remaining 5,400 in chips. Zhou reached for his chips and splashed a raise to 11,000 which was enough to get the other player out of the hand.

Zhou: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Zhou was looking in great shape with the over pair with his opponent only holding ace-high. The {q-Hearts} on the turn was no problem, however, the {3-Hearts} on the river completed an unlikely gut-shot straight for Zhou’s opponent who cheered in joy.

Zhou was noticeably upset, shaking his head in disbelief at what had just occurred. He drops down to 12,950 following the hand.

Chan Doubles

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Johnny Chan had to give up a pot on the {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} turn when his opponent bet 4,100 out of the small blind into what looked like 7,000. Chan was down to about half the starting stack but doubled that preflop for 11,075 with {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} versus {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

Ohyama Eliminated

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Akira Ohyama
Akira Ohyama

We arrived at the table to find around 8,000 in the pot and the board showing {5-Hearts}{q-Spades}{10-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

The player in the small blind had checked and Akira Ohyama had moved all in for his remaining 5,675 in chips. The player in the small blind thought about his decision for a over a minute before finally making the call.

Ohyama then turned over {9-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a pair of nines and was eliminated from the tournament when his opponent tabled {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a higher pair.

Two Big Stacks on Same Table

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

According to Christophe Pereira, Lu Lin had made a straight with {9-}{10-} early on to crack the set of an opponent and peek at around 80,000 chips, now he is down to around 60,000 though. Another big stack on table 23 is Yuexin Wang, who was down to 6,000 chips at one point and even tops Lin's stack at the moment.

One Entry Less Than 2014

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

The number of entries for Day 1b has now officially been confirmed and the 286 stands for the second flight to generate an overall field of 493 participants. That is just one short of last year but still a decent result, given the fact that the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas has just started.

As far as the payout is concerned, the top 59 spots will receive at least HK$43,600 whereas the winner walks away with HK$2,525,000. The full payout will be available shortly in the tab above the live reporting.

Zheng Lays It Down

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

The player in middle position checked his option after the dealer had revealed the {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop. The other player in the hand was Yubin Zheng who threw out 4,500 in chips from two spots down. His opponent then came back over the top and made it 11,800 to go. Zheng called before the {10-Spades} fell on the turn.

This time the player in middle position thought for a moment before moving all in for 21,775 in chips. Zheng spent a minute deciding what to do before eventually mucking his hand.

Cheers from the rail behind the table followed in happiness for Zheng’s opponent who obliged by tabling his {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the straight and flush draw.

Zheng still has 73,000 in chips following the hand.

Chan's Stack Gone in Two Hands

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Bruno Reboli qualified in a live Satellite here at the PokerStars LIVE Macau and the Brasilia took the lion's share of Johnny Chan's stack with {A-}{K-} versus {A-}{9-}. Reboli raised and called the three-bet by Chan to see a flop of {A-}{8-}{8-}. Both players invested another 6,000 chips and Reboli then shoved the {5-} turn to get called, a brick {J-} river gave him the double up to 40,000.

Chan's remaining chips then disappeared after he failed to improve with pocket fours versus pocket kings as per the information of other players on the table.
