Cheong Levels with Torres

Chong Cheong raised to 100,000 with a tall stack of yellow chips from the button. Victorino Torres called from the big blind and the flop came {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Torres fired 150,000 and Cheong called.

After the {9-Spades} hit the felt on the turn, Torres checked. Cheong slid out 200,000 and Torres folded. Cheong was able to pull back to even with Torres on this hand and the two are leading the way with about 2.25 million each.

Cheong's Turn

It's another battle of the blinds between Chong Cheong and Cole Swannack, but there would be no free flop this time. Cheong made it 90,000 to Swannack, and the Kiwi stood from his chair to eye up Cheong's stack before flicking in the calling chips.

The flop came out {8-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}, and Cheong continued out with another 150,000 chips. Swannack made a quick smooth call, and both men checked the innocent {2-Diamonds} on fourth street. The river {Q-Diamonds} drew another check from Cheong, and he wasn't happy to see Swannack check it back again. Cheong tabled {4-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} for the running flush, and Swannack flashed his {8-Hearts} {9-Hearts} on the way into the muck.

Cheong Slides a Bit Further

In a friendly battle of the blinds, Chong Cheong and Cole Swannack each put in 40,000 chips to head off to a flop of {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}. Cheong led out with 60,000 chips, and Swannack made a quick call.

The turn came the {K-Hearts}, and Cheong knocked the table this time. Swannack took his cue to bet 120,000, and Cheong called after a bit of deliberation. The {Q-Spades} filled out the board, and Cheong passed again. His opponent cut out 305,000 chips and held his hand over them for a moment's pause before sliding them into the pot. The fold came instantly from Cheong, and he is moving in the wrong direction, down under 2 million now as the stacks draw closer to even between the four players.

Another Chunk from Cheong Gone

On the flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, Chong Cheong fired 200,000 into Victorino Torres. After a minute, Torres made the call. The turn brought the {Q-Hearts} and Cheong fired another 200,000. Torres took another minute and then moved all in. Cheong instantly mucked his hand and lost another good chunk of his stack to drop to two million. Torres has taken over the chip lead now with 2.1 million in his stack.

A Danish Double

Jeppe Drivsholm
Jeppe Drivsholm

From under the gun, Jeppe Drivsholm raised all in for 484,000. Chong Cheong called form the button and the other two players at the table folded. Cheong was behind with the {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, but still looking to knock out Drivsholm who held the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and there was nothing there for Cheong. He sent over the chips and doubled up the Dane who now has about one million chips again.

Surprising Small-Ball

From the button, Chong Cheong opened the pot to 140,000, and Cole Swannack made the smooth call from the small blind. In the big, Victorino Torres announced a three-bet to 340,000 total, and this time Cheong was the only player to commit the calling chips as Swannack ducked out of the way.

Heads up, the flop brought {K-Spades} {J-Spades} {K-Hearts}, and both players checked. They did the same on the {2-Spades} turn, and the {A-Diamonds} landed on the river. Torres checked again, and Cheong reached for a stack of red chips. After briefly cutting out a potential bet, he looked up and smirked, then pounded the table with an open palm, not wanting to put any more chips in the pot.

Torres showed up {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, and Cheong tabled the winning {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, that passive play still earning him a decent little pot.
