In this episode of The Bernard Lee Poker Show on the PokerNews Podcast Network, Bernard Lee is joined by Chad Holloway and Robbie Strazynski, as they review the 2019 World Series of Poker. Initially, they discuss the interesting trends, their favorite moments, and the 2019 Poker Hall of Fame. During the second half of the show, they focus on the 2019 WSOP Main Event and conclude with remembering three poker players that passed away in 2019.

Chad believes that Moneymaker was supported heavily by the media, whereas Oppenheim was voted on by the players. Robbie believes that there needs to be more than two players a year moving forward.
22:39All three consider who they feel should be the next Hall of Famers. Chad feels Michael Mizrachi is a first-ballot Hall of Famer (Mizrachi will turn 40 in 2021). Robbie supports Eli Elezra and Bernard states Matt Savage.
25:07All three mention personal stories from the 2019 WSOP. Robbie recalls Eli winning his 4th bracelet after Robbie helped Eli translate his recently released book. Chad mentions 2019 WSOP bracelet winners, Kevin Gerhart and Loren Klein (winning a bracelet in the last four years). Bernard mentions James Anderson winning the Little One For One Drop and Phil Hellmuth’s 30th anniversary of his epic WSOP Main Event victory. “In researching that story (for ESPN)…in a 36-hour period, I spoke with Phil Hellmuth, Mike Sexton, Lyle Berman, Chris Marlowe, Johnny Chan and Jack Binion.”

31:12Bernard continues the 2019 WSOP review with Chad Holloway and Robbie Strazynski. During the second half of the show, they discuss the 2019 WSOP Main Event.
31:32They discuss what stood out from the 2019 WSOP Main Event. Bernard mentions the “almost” record of 8,569 players, second only to 2006’s 8,773. He also discusses the first time that players were allowed to buy-in just prior to Day 2.
