How The WPT Global Spins Leaderboards Work
There are five Global Spins Leaderboards, divided by tournament buy-in. There are separate leaderboards for $1, $5, $10, and $25 buy-in events and a joint leaderboard for the $50 and $100 events.
Each daily leaderboard resets at midnight Eastern Time, creating a new leaderboard and new opportunities for players to win prizes every day.
In order to win, you have to earn leaderboard points. This is simple enough since players earn points just by playing Global Spins. Points are awarded at a rate of one point per tournament played. The one exception is the $50/$100 leaderboard. To account for the mixed stakes, WPT Global awards 0.6 points per $50 tourney and 1.0 per $100 tourney.
Because points are earned per entry, the leaderboards award the most active players rather than the best or the luckiest. That should make the true grinders happy!
WPT Global Spins Leaderboards Details
What are Global Spins?
Global Spins are three-player sit-and-go no limit Texas hold'em tournaments where the prize pool of each event is a randomized multiplier of the buy-in.
The randomization occurs at the start of each event and creates a prize pool that can be as low as double the buy-in or as high as 6,000 times the buy-in. As a result, if you enter a $5 event, the prize pool can be as low as $10 or as high as $30,000.
Roughly half of the prize pools of Global Spins are double the buy-in. Higher prize pool multipliers are increasingly rare as they become more rarified. The 6,000 times prize pool appears at a rate of about 1 per 1,000,000.
For games with a prize pool of five times the buy-in or lower, the games are winner-take-all. But above that, all three players receive a payout. For example, at ten times the buy-in, first place receives 80% of the prize pool, and the other two players get 10% each.
