888poker ChampionChip Games

The latest edition of the 888poker ChampionChip Games is done and dusted, with all 30 events crowning their champions, including the massive $200,000 guaranteed Main Event. Costing $60 to enter, the ChampionChip Games Main Event drew in a crowd of 3,581 entrants, which left a small overlay on the ambitious $200,000 guarantee, not that any of the players minded the added value.

Six players pulled out mystery bounties worth $2,000 along the way, but there were some even bigger winners. Tom "sheeeeeeeeet" Hall, who recently won the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Event, captured a $6,000 bounty, as did third-place finisher "TitovSerj." Indeed, the later walked away with $7,755 from the mystery bounty prize pool, which was more than their third-place prize money!

However, the biggest bounty of the night found its way to the 888poker account of "Laaimis21." The Lithuanian fell in 93rd place and won $160 from the regular prize pool, but one of the mystery bounties they scooped weighed in at an incredible $20,000, making them the biggest winner in this event.

None of the finalists were particularly deep-stacked, so the action was fast and furious. It took less than 90 minutes from the first hand delt to the champion emerging victoriously.

Cyprus' "OnlyBet" was the final table's first casualty. "SaoJorge2222" min-raised from the cutoff with ace-king of diamonds and called when "OnlyBet" three-bet jammed for 15 big blinds with ace-six of clubs. The all-in player flopped a flush draw, but failed to hit any of their outs on the turn or river.

Almost immediately after the demise of "OnlyBet," "faah13" crashed out. Again, "SaoJorge2222" min-raised, prompting "faah13" to three-bet all-in for 9.4 big blinds, doing so with pocket kings in the small blind. "TitovSerj" woke up in the big blind with pocket aces, and reshoved, which folded out the initial raiser. The aces held and "faah3" was gone.

Sixth place went to Ukraine's "Asya_xD." Their stack had dwindled to less than two big blinds, and they made a stand with king-ten from the big blind and ultimately lost to the queen-jack of hearts of "woop_woop_" who made a flush by the river.

Brazil's "yujimatsui17" sat down at the final table as the chip leader, but they failed to build on their early momentum and fell in fifth after a cruel hand. "SaoJorge2222" raised to four big blinds with five-three of diamonds from the small blind, and "yujimatsui17" opted to play sneakily and flat-call with pocket aces. That sneakiness came back to haunt them when "SaoJorge2222" flopped trip fives. "SaoJorge2222" led for a shade under two big blinds, and was called. A three on the turn improved "SaoJorge2222" to a full house. They slowed down and check-called a 4.1 big blind bet. Another three on the river locked up the hand for "SaoJorge2222" and they checked. "yujimatsui17" tanked before moving all-in for around a half-pot-sized bet, and the Brazilian snap-called.

"redkiteab" was the next heading to the showers. The Brit had been short-stacked throughout the final table and had folded their way to fourth place. Their last 0.8 big blinds went in with four-three of spades, and "SaoJorge2222" re-raised with pocket tens. "redkiteab" paired their three on the flop but still busted. It was a fantastic result for the Brit because they won their seat via a freeroll and turned that freebie into $4,640.

The Value Is Immense in the 888poker Snowmen Festival

Three-handed play lasted for almost half an hour, and ended with "TitovSerj" void of chips. Their last 2.8 big blinds went into the middle with queen-eight of hearts, and "SaoJorge2222" called with six-five. A five on the flop proved enough to reduce the player count by one, and send the ChampionChip Games Main Event to the heads-up stage.

"woop_woop_" held a 45.8 to 25.8 big blind advantage over their Brazilian opponent, and it proved too much of a gap to bridge. The final hand saw "woop_woop_" min-raise then call the 14 big blind shove from their opponent. "woop_woop_" turned over ace-king, which has the ace-four of "SaoJorge2222" crushed. No help arrived for "SaoJorge2222" and they fell in second-place for a total score worth $9,643, leaving "woop_woop_" to bank a $13,562 payout and the title of champion.
