It was business as usual at 888poker over the weekend after the conclusion of the exciting XL Autumn Series. A field of exactly 1,000 players entered the $109 buy-in $100,000 guaranteed Mystery Bounty Main Event on October 8, ensuring the guarantee was met. Those entrants were reduced to only nine during Day 1's action, with the final nine returning to their seats on October 9 under the watchful eyes of the 888poker Twitch stream team.

The mystery bounties came into play from the 18th level on Day 1, and it did not take too long for some of the larger prizes to find new homes. "MCBlaze14" of the United Kingdom crashed out in 105th place, but not before opening a golden envelope containing $3,000.

Germany's "MOMOs" captured the biggest mystery bounty payment, a cool $10,000. They may have busted in 40th place, but the $10,437 payout they collected in was second only to the eventual champion's haul.

Going into the final table, it was "Jore007" who held the chip lead, their stack containing 99 big blinds. Two Swedes, "Mr.Kantarell" and "LittleBiglet" rounded out the top three, while Brazilian "acrt456" sat down with 16 big blinds and the unwanted title of the final table's short stack.

The first final table elimination happened within 15 minutes of Day 2 shuffling up and dealing. The action folded to "PerAspera" in the small blind, who moved all-in for 12 big blinds with ace-six. "DonSicario" called with king-ten of hearts in the big blind, flopped a king, and sent "PerAspera" to the rail.

A huge pot developed almost immediately after "PerAspera" bowed out, a hand that put "Jore007" in a dominant position. "DonSicario" min-raised in late position with ace-four of diamonds, "Jore007" three-bet with pocket kings on the button, only for "Mr. Kantarell" to four-bet from the big blind with pocket aces. "DonSicario" ducked out of the way, but "Jore007" jammed all-in and was snapped off. "Jore007" flopped a full house, and it proved more than enough to award the gigantic 136 big blind pot to the Finn. "Jore007" now held more than 147 big blinds, only five big blinds less than the rest of the remaining players combined!

"acrt456" was the next player heading for the exits. Their stack had dwindled to only five big blinds when they shoved from the small blind with ace-four, and "LittleBiglet" called from the big blind with king-queen. "acrt456" flopped an ace but their opponent caught kings on the turn and river to reduce the player count by one.

The final six became five when "Zhuravliov" of Andorra bowed out after a losing a coinflip in a battle of the blinds against "marllonsanti." "Zhuravliov" held ace-nine, and "marllonsanti" pocket eights. Four of the five community cards were spades, and "marllonsanti" held a spade. GG to "Zhuravliov."

Sweden's "LittleBiglet" fell in fifth after losing a handful of pots in quick success. They committed their last 11 big blinds with ace-nine but ran straight into the dominating ace-queen of "Jore007." Both players paired their ace on the river, but the queen-kicker of "Jore007" played, leaving only four players in the hunt for the title.

Fourth place was decided soon after, and it was "marllonsanti" who finished in that spot. The Brazilian found themselves all-in for eight big blinds with pocket nines, which lost to the king-ten of hearts in "Jore007's" hand courtesy of an unlikely ten-high straight for "Jore007."

Heads-up was reached when "DonSicario" ran out of luck and steam. "ElChopo" shoved from the small blind with pocket sixes, and "DonSicario" called off their last eight big blinds with king-queen. "DonSicario" flopped a queen, but "ElChoppo" improved to a set. A king on the turn did not alter the hand's path, and "DonSicario" was gone.

"ElChopo" held a 42.3 big blind to 32.6 big blind lead over "Jore007" who had lost more than three-quarters of their previously massive stack in the build up to heads-up. Neither player managed to pull away from the other for almost 30-minutes of one-on-one action, but "Jore007" ten began putting some distance between themselves and their opponent.

The final hand saw "ElChopo" limp with ace-queen of clubs, "Jore007" raise with pocket kings, and "ElChopo" rip it in for 16.3 big blinds in total. "Jore007" beat them into the pot with a call. A ten-high board left "ElChopo" without any chips, and they collected a $5,898 runner-up prize, leaving the champion to bolster their bankroll by an impressive $11,326.
