SO SICK! Kings vs. Kings Cooler Busts 888poker's Sam Abernathy from the WSOP Main Event
Table Of Contents
Level 11 of the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event was unkind to 888poker ambassador Sam Abernathy, who lost a brutal bad beat to exit poker's world championship event.
During the first level of Day 3, with around 110,000 in chips and the blinds at 1,000/2,500, Abernathy picked up K♥K♠ and was poised to earn a valuable double-up, perhaps putting her in position to make a run at the money, and then potentially deeper as the tournament progressed. But her opponent, Mike Gao, also had K♦K♣, so a chop pot seemed inevitable.
The flop ran out Q♦5♦3♥, and Gao was officially freerolling. The turn was the 4♦, making things scary for Abernathy, who was eliminated from the tournament when the 9♦ on the river completed Gao's flush.
Busting from the Main Event is never fun, but going out in such a fashion short of the money is one of the most disappointing ways to exit poker's most prestigious annual tournament.

888poker Team Takes on the WSOP Main Event
888poker sent 30 players to compete in the WSOP Main Event, including Abernathy, Dan "Jungleman" Cates, and boxer Chris Eubank Jr.
At the time of publishing, the dream was still alive for some of the 888poker team. Twitch streamers Josh Manley, Jordan Banfield, and Nick Eastwood were still grinding away, chasing that $10 million first place prize that will be awarded July 17.
Kevin Frame, Thomas Cazyous, Andres Ojeda Silva, Matt Silva, Jorge Ufano, Mark Defaria, Danny Lavoie, Thiago Pirani, and Alexandre Mantovani are all still standing. That's 12 out of 30 still in it into Day 3.
Several of these players made it through the 'Road to Las Vegas' promotion, with 888poker also running a StreamTeam Vegas Dream Package Giveaway earlier this year.
