Pokio-Hosted Malta Poker Championships Online "Surpass All Expectations"

As announced earlier this year by PokerNews, the ever-popular Malta Poker Championships were held at the MGA licensed Pokio app this year.

The event took place between the 22nd and 27th of May and had a total guaranteed prizepool of €50,000 with €30,000 in the Main Event. The event was held in partnership with The Hendon Mob.

The event surpassed all expectations with 729 Unique Entries across all events, generating combined prizepools of €96,000 and achieving 293 Entries in the Main Event with a prizepool of €64,200.

The event also featured a “Queens of Pokio” Ladies tournament, a PLO tournament and The Hendon Mob Championship tournament

Additionally, there was a Dealer Relief Special tournament during the event. The amount collected for this benefic fund will go to one lucky Poker dealer in an exciting winner-takes-all Freeroll tournament to be held in the Pokio platform on the 26th of June at 15:00 (CET).

"State-of-the-art platform"

After more than doubling the Prizepool in the Main Event and almost doubling the total prizepool the Organizers and partners are eager to express their satisfaction and enthusiasm about the results and future of the partnership:

“When we moved Malta Poker Championships online to the Pokio platform I never imagined we were going to have so much fun with the event," said Ivonne Montealegre, Founder of Malta Poker Championships. "Pokio provided a state-of-the-art platform and in collaboration with them and Hendon Mob we were able to deploy a super fun calendar.

"All tournaments had special elements and you could even feel the fun friendly atmosphere that you feel in our live events. Player’s expectations were exceeded and the fact that the Guarantees were super passed in all events proved that our customers enjoy the games we plan for them.

"Queens of Pokio was a super event and I expect it to grow and become a must in the poker calendar”.

Guarantees Smashed in Malta Poker Championships

"We are extremely pleased that our partnership with Malta Poker Championships was not only able to take place, but also to flourish on the Pokio platform," said Roland Boothby, Head of Partnerships of The Hendon Mob. "To see the €10k guarantee smashed in THM event and the €30k guarantee surpassed in the Main Event when it seemed just a couple of months ago that the series itself would be cancelled, is a testament to the spirit and talent of all involved.

"This has been a challenging few month for companies operating in the live poker space, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have partners with the ability to adapt and respond in a way that exceeded all our expectations. We look forward to turning to our attentions to THMC at Malta Poker Festival, which we consider our flagship annual event."

Feedback from players "brilliant"

Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer of Qufan Internet Technology Ltd Manuel Lopes said that the team at Pokio were "ecstatic" with the turnout for the Malta Poker Championship.

"We couldn’t have asked for more," said Lopes. "All the guarantees were smashed, in some cases more than doubled and the feedback from the players was brilliant. Everybody had a lot of fun and that’s the most important thing for us as a platform. We would like to thank the teams at the Malta Poker Championships and The Hendon Mob for being such fantastic partners and we are proud to have held their events in our platform. We are looking forward to more collaboration in the future."
