Michael Chi Zhang was busy navigating his way to another Super High Roller victory at the King’s Resorts, Rozvadov while the infamous Tony G was being crowned champion of the Triton €25K Short Deck event at the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe festival.

Zhang won a €51,000 buy-in Super High Roller event at the partypoker MILLIONS Germany series in Feb. 2018 for a career-best €800,000 and now he has a €350,000 score to boast about.

A field of 42 entries, made up of 33 unique players who made nine re-entries between them, created a €997,500 prize pool that was shared among the top six finishers. Three of those players who reached the final table walked away empty-handed. Australia’s Kahle Burns, the legendary Ole Schemion and Team partypoker pro Kristen Bicknell being that unlucky trio.

The final six players were all in the money

Malaysia’s Choon Siow was the first player to receive some prize money for his efforts, banking the €60,000 sixth-place prize. Siow was then joined on the rail by the German high stakes specialist Steffen Sontheimer who collected €85,000 for his fifth-place exit, the last prize not to weigh in at six figures.

Fourth-place and €112,500 went to the Triton co-founder Paul Phua. It has been a profitable couple of weeks for Phua who cashed three times at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London festival, including a runner-up finish in the £100,000 buy-in Main Event that banked him £2,558,305.

Turkey’s Selahaddin Bedir then smashed his previous best live poker tournament score of $94,490 by navigating his way to a third-place finish worth €160,000. Bedir could not quite get the job done as countryman Orpen Kisacikoglu did a couple of days ago in the €100,000 buy-in Triton Super High Roller.

Bedir’s exit set up a heads-up clash between Netherlands’ Tom Vogelsang and the United Kingdom’s Zhang. The Dutchman ran out of steam in the one-on-one section of the tournament and had to make do with the €230,000 consolation prize, which more than doubled his lifetime winnings in the live area. With Vogelsang out of the way, Zhang got his hands on the winner’s trophy and €350,000 in cash.

Zhang is in incredible form

The past 18-months have been phenomenal for Zhang in both the live and online poker world. Aside from his huge €800,000 score we mentioned earlier, Zhang also cashed in the A$50,000 Challenge at the 2019 Aussie Millions for A$176,700 and more recently banked £711,000 for his sixth-place finish in the Triton London Main Event.

Zhang recently returned to the fray in the online poker world having taking a few months away from the virtual felt after a string of huge cashes in Sept. 2018. During the ninth month of last year, Zhang helped himself to prizes of $265,996, $336,741, $382,253, and $468,000 at partypoker and PokerStars.

It is highly likely that Zhang will now buy into the MILLIONS Europe Main Event and see if his rich vein of form continues. You can discover if that is the case by following all the action over at the PokerNews Live Reporting pages as we bring you exclusive live updates from the €10,300 buy-in event.
