2019 EPT Barcelona

The Casino Barcelona is the place to be this August as the venue is hosting both the Spanish Poker Championship (CEP) and the latest European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona stop.

From Aug. 14-20, poker players will descend on the Casino Barcelona for the fourth stop of the Spanish Poker Championship, CEP to give it its Spanish abbreviation. Three CEP events are scheduled, and all will be well-attended.

Kicking off the CEP from Aug. 14-18 is the CEP Barcelona Main Event, a €500 buy-in affair that is sure to attract a substantial field. Following on from the Main Event is the €200 Mini CEP Barcelona, which makes way for the eagerly anticipated €1,100 CEP Barcelona High Roller.

Organizers are so sure that the CEP is going to attract massive fields that the festival will take place in the Gaudi Room at the Hotel Arts.

Huge Turnout Expected for EPT Barcelona Main Event

The 2019 edition of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona festival runs from Aug. 20 through to Sep. 1 and features a plethora of events to complement the €5,300 buy-in Main Event.

EPT Barcelona has always been one of the most popular stops of the EPT since its creation, with last year’s Main Event attracting a massive field of 1,931 entries (including 457 re-entries) who created a prize pool worth a cool €9,365,350 ($10,907,572).

This huge sum was shared among the top 296 finishers with the likes of Dario Sammartino, Patrik Antonius, Anatoly Filatov, Niall Farrell, Michael Tureniec, Dominik Panka, Upeshka De Silva, Ben Heath, and John Juanda all seeing a return on their initial investments.

Poland’s Piotr Nurzynski was crowned the tournament’s champion and walked away with a €1,037,109 ($1,207,892) prize after a heads-up deal with runner-up Haoxiang Wang of China.

Before the 2019 EPT Barcelona Main Event, there is the €1,100 buy-in EPT National Event that attracted 4,348 entries last year. This bumper tournament runs from Aug. 21-25 and serves as the perfect warm-up for the Main Event that runs Aug. 26 to Sep. 1.

Other key events include the €550 EPT Cup (Aug. 23-25), the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller (Aus. 24-26) and the €10,300 EPT High Roller (Aug. 30-Sep. 1). PokerNews will be on the ground to provide you with live reporting updates from the EPT Barcelona's key events.

Pre-Register for CEP and EPT Barcelona Events

Players can preregister for any of the CEP and EPT events by signing up to the Casino Barcelona’s website. An active PSLive account is needed to use this facility, but it is worth it because buying a seat in advance negates the need to queue in the registration line on the day of each event.

It is also possible to win seats online via satellites hosted at PokerStars. EPT Barcelona Main Event seats start from only €1.10, giving everyone the chance to become an EPT champion.
