The WSOP International Circuit is fully underway at the Casino de Marrakech, located in the heart of the luxurious Morracan complex Es Saadi Marrakech Resort Hôtel.

The festival features 10 WSOP gold ring events and one champion ring from Jan. 12-20.

The Casino de Marrakech plays host to the WSOP Circuit for the fifth time, affirming the casino's leading position in the region. Each year, the casino attracts new players from around the world thanks to the amazing experience provided at the casino and resort.

Two players have already claimed coveted WSOP gold rings thus far in the festival. Greece's Evangelos Bechrakis outlasted a field of 155 entrants in the 4,500 MAD (€410) WSOP Circuit Opener for MAD 120,000 (€11,032; US$12,582). With the cash, Bechrakis has earned over $600,000 in live tournaments.

Also winning a gold ring was Kuwait's Abdullah Ameen Alawadhi after he navigated through a field of 207 entrants in the 3,000 MAD (€275) WSOP Circuit Turbo for MAD 120,000 (€11,032; US$12,582). This was a true Cinderella story as this was only his second-ever cash according to The Hendon Mob with his first coming two years ago in the same festival.

Meanwhile, two more players will claim gold rings soon with the 6,000 MAD (€550) WSOP Circuit Deepstack and the 20,000 MAD (€1,800) WSOP Circuit High Roller both currently underway.

Main Event Begins Tomorrow

The highlight of the festival is, of course, the 15,000 MAD (€1,350) WSOP Circuit Main Event. The tournament, which will be covered by the PokerNews Live Reporting Team, features two opening days on Jan. 17 and 18. The tournament is a deep-stacked affair with players starting off with 30,000 in chips and blinds increasing every 45 minutes.

Players bagging chips will compete in a deeper structure on Day 2 on Jan. 19 playing to 75-minute blind levels before they increase again to 90-minute blind levels on the final day Jan. 20.

In addition to the big prize and a WSOP Circuit championship ring, the winner will also walk away with a seat to the 2019 Global Casino Championship valued at $10,000. This prize will also be awarded to the winner of the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Leaderboard.
