A brand-new tournament is set to debut at the upcoming LA Poker Open at the Commerce Casino that is the brainchild of elite tournament directors Matt Savage and Justin Hammer.

Matt Savage: "Does a 50k starting stack for a $240 buy in sound big enough?"

The Jacked Stack event runs from Nov. 6-10 and features a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool despite only costing $240 to enter. Featuring seven starting flights, the Jacked Stack event sees players sit down with a huge stack of 50,000 chips, play to a blind structure that starts at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Levels increase every 20-minutes for the first 10 levels before increasing to 30-minute intervals thereafter.

Having a 50,000 stack in a $240 buy-in live tournament is practically unheard of, but Matt Savage has answered players’ cries for deeper stacks and better structures; "Does a 50k starting stack for a $240 buy in sound big enough?" Savage said.

Players are permitted to play in as many flights as they wish but can only carry their biggest stack forward to Day 2. Should a player progress to Day 2 more than once, they will receive a min-cash for each stack that is removed from play.

The top eight percent of each field progresses to Day 2, with Day 2 play being on eight-handed tables.

Justin Hammer, the tournament coordinator, said of the Jacked Stack event, “I am so jacked to run the Jacked Stack. Players are going to love it because there’s so many chips!”

Several different poker variants and formats are scheduled for the LA Poker Open between Nov. 2-18, giving players the chance to test their skills in affordable tournaments that have sizeable guarantees.

Justin Hammer: "Players are going to love it because there’s so many chips!"

$50,000 is guaranteed in the Kickoff Event at 5:00 p.m. local time on Nov.2 for a $175 buy-in, with players also able to get involved in events such as the Triple Stack, turbo-structured tournaments, bounty events, pot-limit Omaha, Omaha Hi/Low, an Omaha-8/Stud-8 tournament and a H.O.R.S.E event.

Another unique tournament takes place at 6:00 p.m. local time on Nov. 12. Named the No Limit Hold’em 6 Hours and Time’s Up Bounty, players buy in for $150 and receive 25,000 chips. They then play 13 levels of 15-minutes each before completing five levels of 20-minutes each. At the end of the 18th level, 15 more hands are played before the tournament ends and is settled based on players’ chips with one in eight players being paid out.

Rounding off what looks like an exciting festival is the $500,000 guaranteed Main Event that costs $1,100 to enter and has three starting flights. Again, players can play in multiple flights but only take their largest stack through to Day 2, with a min-cash awarded for each stack they have taken out of play. Satellites costing $175 to enter run throughout the LA Poker Open festival and have between three and ten $1,100 seats guaranteed.

The champion of the LA Poker Open Main Event also wins a $10,000 entry to the L.A. Poker Classic Main Event in 2019 in addition to their payout.

You can check out the structure for each of the 2018 LA Poker Open events at the Commerce Casino website. Updates on the series will be available and LAPCnews.com.
