WSOP Day 16: Martin Jacobson, Scotty Nguyen Playing Deep in MARATHON

The MARATHON moves closer to the final table on Thursday and among the 60 players returning include WSOP Main Event champions Martin Jacobson and Scotty Nguyen.

The $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. also brings back only 16 players for PokeGO streaming. In the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed; Greg Merson, Jason Mercier, and Ryan Riess are some of the big names returning.

Event #24: THE MARATHON - $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em

It’s a long race in this one, and after three days of play, bracelet winner Taylor Paur is the chip leader with 2,958,000. Only 60 players remain from the original 1,637, and the winner will take home $653,581.

Rounding out the top five are Anton Morgenstern (1,775,000), Mark Sleet (1,550,000), Hiep Doan (1,442,000), and Jonas Mackoff (1,356,000).

Others remaining include WSOP Main Event champions Martin Jacobson (811,000) and Scotty Nguyen (483,000) as well as Matt Affleck (884,000), 888poker ambassador Chris Moorman (445,000), Cate Hall (574,000), and Martin Staszko (516,000).

Event #25: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better

After three days of action, Benjamin Dobson, Tim Finne, and Jesse Martin will return Thursday for an unscheduled Day 4 in this event.

Dobson, who also led after Day 2, holds the biggest stack with 2,615,000 chips – nearly 60-percent of all chips in play. Dobson has more than $872,000 in live tournament winnings, and he's looking for his first bracelet.

Finne (1,185,000) and Martin (675,000) will be looking to spoil the party for Dobson. Day 4 resumes at 2 p.m. and PokerNews will have all the all the highs and lows. Click here for the live updates.

Event #26: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha

Thursday’s final day of action in this event brings back 14 players and Filippos Stavrakis is the chip leader with 903,000 chips followed by Pascal Damoi (632,000) and Felipe Ramos (450,000).

The event attracted 986 entries for a prize pool of $887,400. The winner will take home $169,842 of that. Play picks back up at noon and should play down to a champion. Click here to follow all the PokerNews live updates.

Event #27: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E.

After two days of horse riding, Laith Salem leads the pack with 1,456,000 chips followed by Albert Daher (1,300,000), John Hennigan (687,000), and Iraj Parvizi (620,000). Salem has $95,000 in live tournament winnings and looking for his first bracelet and first breakthrough win. In total, just 16 players return for Day 3.

Others remaining include Randy Ohel (571,000), Carol Fuchs (562,000), David "Bakes" Baker (559,000), Jean Gaspard (405,000), Anthony Zinno (237,000), Robert Mizrachi (111,000), and Katherine Fleck (186,000).

The winner will score a payday of $414,692 in an event that attracted a field of 166 entries for a prize pool of $1,560,400

Event #28: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

After a day of short-handed hold’em, 186 return for Day 2 after 842 entries in the first day of action which created a $2.34 million prize pool.

Christian Rudolph leads the way into Thursday with 210,000 in chips followed by Federico Petruzzelli (209,000) and Richard Kaplan (178,500). Germany’s Rudolph has $676,656 and looking for his first big win. The winner will take home $461,798 in this event.

Others surviving to Day 2 include Mike Watson (110,500), Tony Dunst (95,800), Kyle Hartree (91,500), Olivier Busquet (88,000), Manig Loeser (68,200), Greg Merson (59,200), Jason Mercier (47,100), and Ryan Riess (38,300).

Event #29: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

After one day of play, 88 players return on Thursday and Jared Bleznick leads the pack after bagging 72,900 chips in an event that brought in 356 entries for a prize pool of $480,600. Right behind Bleznick are Rick Fuller (66,200) and David Prociak (65,100).

Also advancing were Jon Turner (26,100), David "ODB" Baker (65,100), and David Pham (64,600).

Event #30: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha

It’s a good week for PLO players. The $1,000 event kicked off on Tuesday, and now this $1,500 event should bring many of them back to the Rio.

Loren Klein took home his second bracelet for $231,483 in this event last year. Klein excels in this form of poker, and his first bracelet came in 2016 in the $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha for $241,427. A few days later he finished runner-up in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Championship for $552,713. In 2010, he also finished runner-up in the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha for $195,147.

Last year’s event featured 870 entries and a $1.2 million prize pool. Players will begin with a 7,500 starting stack and 60-minute levels. PokerNews will have all your PLO updates when the event kicks off at 11 AM.

Event #31: $1,500 Seven Card Stud

The Hi/Lo version of this game began on Monday and now comes this traditional and historic form of poker. The event features a starting stack of 7,500 and 60-minute levels.

Tom Koral too home this bracelet in 2017 for a $96,907 payday in an event featuring 298 entries and a $402,300 prize pool. The Stud gets started at 3 PM so make sure to follow along with the PokerNews live updates crew.
