The 2018 Global Poker Grizzly Games Exceed SC$2 Million in Prize Pools 0001

The second installment of the Global Poker Championships, the Grizzly Games, came to a close last weekend, smashing the SC$1.5 million guarantee that was set forth after doling out more than $2 million in real cash prizes throughout the month-long series.

More than 200 players were crowned Grizzly Games Champions by taking down at least one Grizzly Games event, and part of their spoils were a Grizzly Games trophy along with their very own Champions Packs including GP t-shirts and other gear.

The largest overlay took place in the site’s biggest event to date — the SC$218 buy-in Grizzly Games Main Event, which drew 415 players to create a SC$82,800 prize pool, well above the SC$50,000 guarantee.

The Main Event honors went to “smacchamp2015”, who defeated “Oghab” heads up to capture the SC$15,690 top prize. In the final hand of the match, “smacchamp2015” called an all-in shove with king-ten, which held up against the jack-eight of “Oghab”, who would have to settle for a runner-up finish.

The close, heated race for the Grizzly Games Leaderboard winner ended with “MommyGingery” on top, after taking down not one, but two events during the series. That impressive performance earned “MommyGingery” a place in Global Poker history as the second person to earn a $5,000 package to go represent Global Poker at a live poker event of the player’s choice.

While the next big thing to come out of Global Poker has yet to be announced, sources at the site promise they are working on something that will be even bigger than the first two Global Poker Championships series, which were each a resounding success.
