Poker players from around the world are looking forward to breaking in the new year at the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the sunny Bahamas from Jan. 6-14.

The highlight of the 31-event poker festival is, of course, the six-day $10,300 PCA Main Event from Jan. 8-14. Last year, when the event was branded as the PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event, Christian Harder finished on top of the 738-entrant field to win $429,664 after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Cliff Josephy.

The upcoming Main Event will reward much more than that $3,376,712 prize pool for a few reasons. First of all, the buy-in of the event was doubled from $5,000 to $10,000. In addition, there were 300 players who qualified online at PokerStars for a full package to the Main Event valued at $14,855.

Extra Value for Players

In addition to the action-packed schedule of tournaments, PokerStars will be adding to the players' experience at the festival with many lucrative promotions and fun activities.

Players participating in at least one tournament in the festival will be invited to a PCA $50,000 Freeroll on Jan. 14. Side event buy-ins start at just $160, so this is a freeroll anyone attending can play in to try to grab some free money. Additionally, any player appearing at the final table will not only be awarded a chunk of cash but also a gift to remember, valued at up to $500.

Another poker perk that is easy to get involved in is the $50,000 Player Giveaway. Players can earn tickets in both tournaments and cash games. Tournament players can earn five tickets for the random drawing where six players will win prizes by being seated in an event during the first blind level. They will receive another five tickets if they bubble any event and one ticket if they finish in the money in any event.

Cash game players will earn one ticket any time they are dealt a full house, two tickets any time they are dealt quads and three tickets if they are dealt a royal flush. In addition, cash game players will automatically take part in a High Hand Jackpot where $300 is awarded every hour from Jan. 7-13 from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Off the Felt Fun

The PCA is the perfect poker getaway to kick off the year. When not on the felt, players can bask in the sun and enjoy the beach of the Bahamas. Additionally, players can enjoy all the amenities the Atlantis has to offer including a 141-acre water park filled with water slides, river rides and 11 pools.

The resort also boasts the world's largest open-air marine habitat with over 50,000 marine animals in 15 exhibit lagoons, an amazing spa, and tons of restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Most of the activities provided by PokerStars away from the tables will take place in the Player Lounge open every day throughout the festival from 11 a.m. until midnight. The lounge provides a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable seating, a bar, gaming and VR stations complete with many fun activities.

Of course, it wouldn't be a PCA without a Player Party. This year, the event takes place at the Atlantis Casino nightclub with free drinks on tap from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Players are invited to bring one guest and can obtain wristbands from the Information Desk.
