The Playground Poker Club in Montreal is the place to be for the next month because the World Cup of Cards returns to the popular poker venue and brings with it more than $6 million in guaranteed prize pools.

Running from Aug. 13 to Sep. 13, the World Cup of Cards features 36 events, 11 of which are non-hold’em games such as pot-limit Omaha hi/lo, Crazy Pineapple and the ‘Roll the Dice’ six-game mixed tournament.

The 2017 World Cup of Cards kicks off with the return of the partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Canada, a $220 buy-in event that boasts of a massive $1 million guaranteed prize pool. A total of 17 starting flights are available at the Playground Poker Club for Grand Prix Canada with several more scheduled online at partypoker; the live element runs from Aug. 13-21.

When the Grand Prix Canada tournament last ran in May 2017, Cassidy Battikha was crowned champion after a three-way deal involving Karim Abdelhamid and Kevin Zeidler. Battikha walked away with $84,050 for his $22 investment; you could be doing the same by the time the latest edition of this value-packed tournament is completed!

Following the Grand Prix Canada spectacular is the $400,000 guaranteed CPPT World Cup of Cards. This $1,650 buy-in no-limit hold’em event takes place from Aug. 25-28 and has two Day 1s to get involved in.

Another highlight of the World Cup of Cards is the new Playground1000. Four Day 1s are available for this $1,100 buy-in event, which has a guaranteed prize pool weighing in at a cool $1 million.

Last but certainly not least is the $2,200 Canadian Poker Championship, played across four starting flights, each with a single re-entry permitted, and where a massive $2 million is guaranteed to be won.
