888poker heads to Barcelona May 11-22 for the latest installment of its popular and value-packed 888Live Festival series.

888Live Festival Barcelona, held at the Gran Casino, sees more than a dozen poker tournaments with combined guarantees above €700,000. Some of the highlights of the schedule include a €100,000 guaranteed Opening Event costing a mere €220, a €2,200 buy-in High Roller event and the €500,000 guaranteed Main Event which commands a €1,100 buy-in.

As you would expect for such a prestigious tournament, the Main Event, High Roller and possibly some of the higher buy-in side events, are attracting the attention of some of poker’s elite.

Several members of Team 888 have confirmed they are heading to Barcelona for the festival, including Bruno Politano, three-time WSOP bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche, Bruno Kawauti, Kara Scott, Nicolau Villa-Lobos, Sofia Lovgren and Natalie Hof.

Joining this star-studded roster are the trash talking Will Kassouf, high-stakes cash game guru Patrik Antonius and the man known as “The Grinder,” Michael Mizrachi.

Action Away from the Festival

There is enough poker action at the 888Live Festival Barcelona to keep any poker player busy, but if anyone fancies some off-the-felt activities, there are two major sporting events in Barcelona during 888poker’s visit.

On May 14, the legendary FC Barcelona soccer team hosts Las Palmas at the 99,357 capacity Camp Nou. The match is both teams’ penultimate game of the season and Barcelona’s final home tie of the current campaign.

Las Palmas has one of the worse defenses in La Liga while Barcelona boasts of the best attack so there should be plenty of goals in this encounter.

Motorsport fans will be pleased to learn that the Spanish F1 Grand Prix is at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona between May 12-24. The track is only a 30-minute car ride from the center of Barcelona and the crowd usually goes wild when Fernando Alonso, a Spaniard, takes to the track in his Team McLaren car.
