Sunday Briefing: Sam Grafton Wins the Sunday Grand

Popular British grinder Sam “SamSquid” Grafton helped himself to his fourth largest online poker tournament cash on March 27 when he took down the $1,050 Sunday Grand NLHE at PokerStars for $52,633.

Grafton outlasted 275 opponents on his way to securing the huge prize, coming out on top of a final table that also featured Igor “IgorKurganov” Kurganov, Aaron “AaronBeen” Been, Kenny “SpaceyFCB” Hallaert and Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen, the latter finishing third for $29,112.

Hunichen added $39,982 in prize money and $11,746 to that princely sum by being the last player standing in the $700 Super-Sized Sunday, then won $14,152 by finishing fifth in the $215 Sunday Warm-Up for a remarkable set of results.

Over at partypoker, “PhileasFogg” won the $2,600 Super High Roller and banked an impressive $52,604. “Roman883444444” triumphed in the $300,000 Gtd Title Fight and turned $215 into $48,300.

At this weekend’s $150,000 Gtd Main Event, “Brttyy” outlasted 1,646 players to win $26,085 and “gregOorOowicz” won the $150K Gtd High Roller, walking away with $35,753.

In the Title Fight Warm-Up, a $215 buy in event with a $100,000 guarantee, “poker381984” won $25,596. “TorTor2012” took down the $100K Gtd High Roller for $25,182. “k2Schogori” won the $50K Gtd Eliminator for $5,273 and Andreas “bushuset” Berggren triumphed in the $50K Gtd Weigh-In for a $4,800 bankroll boost.

At 888poker, “B_thebenlar” walked away with the $25,012 first-place prize of the $120,000 Mega Deep, “rafasdad” banked the $8,957 top prize of the $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep and Germany’s “luckyr1ver” won the $50,000 Sunday Crocodile and its $11,801 first-place prize.

Sweden’s “cuadrado12” triumphed in the $25,000 Sunday Tornado and secured a $5,633 payout, while “Graftekkel” and Yordan “YordanPetrov” Petrov chopped the $80,000 Sunday Challenge and won $13,185 and $14,318, respectively.
