Sunday Briefing: Joe Cada Wins the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up

Former World Series of Poker Main Event champion Joe Cada became an online poker champion again this weekend when he triumphed in the $215 Sunday Warm-Up at PokerStars

Canadian Cada topped a field of 1,917 entries in the Sunday Warm-Up, eventually defeating “elementx8” heads up to boost his bankroll by an impressive $57,441.39.

The largest score online this weekend went to Ireland’s “myleftfoot33” courtesy of winning the Sunday Million. The Irish grinder turned $215 into $148,934.52 by outlasting 5,234 opponents. Five of the nine finalists hailed from either the United Kingdom or Ireland, including runner-up “donkey310” who collected $104,515.09.

  • “JeremiieLand” – winner of the $109 Sunday Kickoff for $19,572.93
  • “GregX89X” – winner of the $215 Weekender for $9,215.75
  • “flipmm” – winner of the Big $109 for $26,402.41
  • Apostolis “apostolis20” Bechrakis – winner of the $700 Super-Sized Sunday for $39,190.35
  • “baeks22” – winner of the $1,050 Sunday Grand NLHE for $47,664.07
  • Brian “brianm15” England – winner of the $1,050 Sunday Grand PLO for $31,485.37
  • Andrey “drupe-lucker” Chernokoz – winner of the Big $215 for $25,825.05
  • “juicetus” – winner of the $109 Sunday Cooldown for $20,753.58
  • “OTT CANADA” – winner of the $215 Sunday Supersonic for $27,730.31
  • “v777c” – winner of the $109 Sunday Wrap-Up for $9,500.08

Over at 888poker, Russia’s “proplatish” walked away with the $22,567.44 first-place prize of the $100,000 Baby Whale after coming out on top of 391 opponents. That impressive score was beaten by the $25,912.50 “hateh4tehate” collected for taking down the $120,000 Mega Deep, however.

This week’s $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep saw “trino11” turn $215 into $9,079.80 in the space of three hours and 19 minutes for a superb hourly rate, while the $80,000 Sunday Challenge ended in a three-way chop with “theLINQ” being crowed champion and collecting $11,379.60, “truchota” banking $12,166.35 and “Bastett” walking away with $12,023.50.

Finally, the biggest results from partypoker’s Sunday schedule.

The $2,600 Super High Roller smashed it’s $100,000 guarantee by $57,500 this weekend and it was “icenigel” who took full advantage of the massive prize pool, winning the tournament and its $51,187.50 first-place prize.

A crowd of 1,251 players helped meet the Title Fight’s guarantee by $200 and the event ended in a heads-up chop. “MaxVici” won the tournament with “elsampa69” finishing as runner-up with the heads-up duo collected $36,019.31 and $36,019.30 respectively; that cent makes all the difference!

In the $200,000 Gtd High Roller, “TR22TR” turned $530 into $39,000 with Niklas “Tjeeeena” Astedt winning the $150,000 Gtd Main Event this week, a finish worth $24,928.08.
