Your Guide to WSOPC Caribbean at Casino Royale

2 min read

What happens in St. Maarten stays in St. Maarten, unless of course you win the first World Series of Poker Circuit Event there, the WSOP Caribbean Festival.

It is the only Caribbean stop of the tour. This new international stop at St. Maarten was added to the World Series of Poker Circuit and will use Sonesta Maho Beach Resort’s Casino Royale as its venue from Nov. 3 through Nov. 16.

Thirty-eight tournaments are scheduled, with nine WSOPC Ring Events and the $250,000-payout Championship Event. The main event has a $1,675 buy-in. Cash games will be available daily from 3 p.m. to 6 a.m.

St. Maarten, known for its distinctly French and Dutch culture, gourmet restaurants and varied gaming options, can be the perfect playground for poker players.

Players can book an all-inclusive package with the family-friendly Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino or choose the adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort. Both are conveniently located next to the casino.

“We are thrilled to offer participating players more than just poker, allowing them time to explore this gorgeous Caribbean island and take advantage of Sonesta St. Maarten Resorts’ ample amenities,” said longtime Casino Royale partner and organizer Thomas Kremser. Kremser is also the CEO of TK Events.

But when you’re not in the casino, here are some things you might consider checking out.

  1. ATV Island Tour – Visitors can tour Marigot, the capital of the French island of Saint Martin, stopping at a variety of beautiful beaches on the way. Head on up to Pic du Paradis, the highest point on the island, and have lunch at the famous Orient Beach.
  2. Party Bus – Can’t complete your getaway without a hip party bus, now can we? WSOPC players and staff can see the sights with cocktails in hand and finally party with all those players and staff you never really got to know.
  3. Zip line – Lotterie Farm, a recreational hideaway nestled in the Pic du Paradis hillside on Saint Martin, gives guest the ability to wine, dine, climb, hike and take a ride on a zip line.

Other considerations are the all-inclusive hotel packages to the tournament, available for booking on the event website (and including accommodations, meals, drinks, activities, water sports, taxes and gratuity). Even more than that, make sure you book your flight in time. Many airlines fly from the U.S. to St. Maarten, including American Airlines, Delta and JetBlue.
