GUKPT Takes Its £200,000 Guaranteed Main Event To Luton
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) heads to Luton for the 10th consecutive year on Oct. 2 for the seventh leg of its 2016 tour.
Luton may not be the most glamorous place in the United Kingdom, but when it comes to poker, it is something of a hotbed. The GUKPT Luton Main Event is one that several of the UK’s most popular and talented poker players have triumphed in.
A certain Sam Trickett, who was relatively unknown at the time of his victory, won the GUKPT Luton Main Event back in Season 2. Richard Gryko was crowned its champion the following year. The likes of Neil Channing, Charles Chattha and Jamie O’Connor have all emerged victorious after battling in Luton.
Last year it was William Davies who walked away with the winner’s trophy, turning his £1,090 investment into £65,500, taking on the Chris Gordon and Richard Kellett at the tournament’s final table on his way to glory.
Davies has since reached the final table of the GUKPT Grand Final, finished third in the GUKPT Reading Main Event and enjoyed cashes in the Caribbean, Las Vegas and Marbella showing that winning in Luton can spur a poker player on to greater things in the game.
