Hippodrome Prepares for 13-Event UKIPT London Festival
The PokerStars UKIPT heads to London during the first week of April and will call the iconic Hippodrome Casino home for a week, during which no fewer than 13 tournaments are scheduled, including the UKIPT London £770 Main Event.
April 5-10, 2016, are the dates you need to commit to memory if you are planning on travelling to the English capital city to compete in any of the UKIPT London tournaments. Buy-ins start as low as £165 and increase all the way to the £2,200 High Roller.
A £165 buy-in satellite kicks off the six-day festival on April 5, with the first cash tournament taking place on the same date, at 6 p.m. local time, and is the aforementioned £2,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed event. It is a tournament that is sure to attract some of the best poker players from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and further afield.
The £770 buy-in UKIPT London Main Event features three starting flights this time around, the first of these taking place at 2 p.m. on April 6, with Days 1b and 1c commencing at the earlier time of 11 a.m. on April 7 and April 8.
Last season’s UKIPT London Main Event attracted a field of 742 players, creating a £503,818 prize pool. A total of 111 places were paid, with the likes of Team PokerStars Pros Jake Cody and Matthias De Meulder, Willie Tann, Billy Chattaway, Hippodrome Team Pro Chris Gordon, Kevin Allen, Ross Boatman, Irish legend Andy Black, and Jamie O'Connor all finishing in the money.
Rapinder Cheema was the last man standing, which was a result worth a cool £78,825 ($119,211). Cheema defeated Spain’s Fernando Marin heads up for the title, although Marin still walked away with £74,275 for his runner-up finish thanks to striking a deal with Cheema during heads-up play.
